Substance Abuse and Suicide: The consistent use of alcohol and drugs can lead to severe problems, including legal issues, overdose, and a significant risk often overlooked—suicide. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. and the 2nd among people aged 10-34. Substance abuse significantly increases this risk. Those with alcohol dependence are ten times more likely to commit suicide, and drug users are 14 times more likely. Recognize the warning signs: drastic behavior changes, withdrawal from activities, feelings of hopelessness, and discussions about wanting to die. It's hard, but we're here to help. #SuicidePrevention #YouAreNotAlone #SupportEachOther #PorchLightHealth #PorchLightClinics #FrontRangeClinics

The Real Pandemic: Alcoholism – The Silent Killer in Our Homes: Alcohol quietly kills more people each year than all illicit drugs combined, yet it remains celebrated, normalized, and overlooked. ?? The Facts: Alcohol causes 3 million deaths globally each year - that's one every 10 seconds. In the U.S., over 140,000 deaths annually are alcohol-related, surpassing fentanyl fatalities. It’s a key factor in 50% of domestic violence cases and 40% of violent crimes. Unlike fentanyl, alcohol’s societal impact is masked by glamorized marketing and cultural acceptance. It destroys families, fuels crime, and thrives behind closed doors, yet avoids the scrutiny it deserves. A Call for Change: Treat alcoholism as the public health crisis it is. Focus on prevention, education, and systemic accountability. Shift the narrative - addiction is a disease, not a disgrace. It’s time to confront the uncomfortable truth: the real epidemic is closer to home than we think. Let’s demand change and rewrite the story. #AddictionAwareness #Alcoholism #PublicHealth

Alcohol Use Disorder numbers: 29.5 Million Americans have Alcohol Use Disorders. Alcohol related deaths in America are 178,000 per year. Only 8% of the 29.5 million get treatment. That's 2.4 million. Only 40% of the 2.4 mill COMPLETE treatment. That's 944,000 people. And for the staggering number only 2 out of 10 remain in sobriety/recovery. That's 188,000 thousand. What's the solution? 1st quit glorifying and celebrating alcohol use. 2nd re-vamp the standard protocol for treatment. 3rd start having open and honest conversations with yourself and others you know have issues with alcohol. #AlcoholUseDisorder #AddictionAwareness #SoberLifestyle #MLCV
