After thinking more about this job description (Physical actions are on every job descripion, be that system architect, application security lead or engineering manager), I don't see it as a laughing matter anymore. Looks like a way to filter out candidates with disabilities. What do you think, is it a discrimination in disguise or not? A request to understand speech or visually locate information seems reasonable, yet laughable, for a job description targeting a manager with at least a Bachelor's degree. Some other requirements appear to indirectly discriminate against candidates with disabilities: for instance, the need to stand for an entire shift, twist, bend, stoop, or lift 10 lbs. These aren't essential for the job. Even operating a keyboard isn't critical, I knew someone with severe carpal tunnel syndrome who was a writer and a teacher, relying on voice technology for typing. A reality check for radiation professionals: Is the cost too high? . . Working in radiation comes with unique risks — every ray carries a probability of harm. Every time I introduce someone to AV Technician Hire, the first question I get is: "?????? ?????? ?????? ?????????????? ?????? ?????? ?????????????????????? ?????? ???????? ?????" To be honest, this frustrates me. Why assume I'm responsible for your hiring process? AV Technician Hire exists to help you meet new people when your existing contacts are exhausted--not to vet them for you. But I can't ignore this expectation. Instead of telling people they're wrong, maybe I should address it. ???? ????????'?? ?????? ??????????????????: How can AV Technician Hire authenticate and qualify technicians in a way that's meaningful to you? In production AV, there's no commonly recognized certifying body like AVIXA for commercial AV integration or CEDIA for residential. A manager I spoke with suggested technicians could link to recommendations they've received and the last five shows they've worked on--essentially, credibility indicators. But even he admitted that, ultimately, he'd still prefer a personal referral from someone he's worked with before. So if personal referrals always trump everything else, is it worth adding more hoops for technicians to jump through? Should AV Technician Hire remain a straightforward way to connect with new people without attempting any authentication or gatekeeping? ???????? ???? ?????? ??????????? I'd love to hear from project managers, hiring managers, and operations managers in the AV industry. How can AV Technician Hire best serve your needs? Is there a middle ground between being a simple directory and taking on the vetting process?
