A lot of digital health companies have struggled after promising quick adoption and high revenues. Freespira, which treats panic and PTSD, is doing things differently by building towards profitability slowly but surely. As president of Chorus Community Health Plans, I really like that Freespira's treatment is short, can be done without seeing a practitioner in their office, and doesn't require us to pay a never-ending monthly fee. Our data analysis has shown just how big the problem is. So far, almost 1,000 Chorus members have used Freespira, without any out-of-pocket costs. These individuals are reporting a significant reduction in their symptoms, which not surprisingly, has resulted in a a decrease in their health care costs. Researchers have built a #genAI model to identify adverse social determinants, such as food insecurity, hidden in patient visit notes. Why it matters: #SDOH is a critical driver of health outcomes, especially for patients with chronic conditions—but they’re rarely captured or used to inform treatment plans.? ? Singling out patients like these for outside social support will alleviate health system burden, save money and—most importantly—improve patient health outcomes.? ? #healthequity #SDOH #genAI

According to new Eleos research, #SDOH factors — things like financial stress, housing instability, and caregiving responsibilities — come up in 86% of therapy conversations. Not all that surprising, considering the clear link between social determinants of health (SDOH) and client therapy progress. And it's great to see that therapists are aware of and actively addressing SDOH factors in-session. Unfortunately, the same study revealed that only 52% of progress notes mention SDOH — meaning these discussions often go undocumented. That’s a huge problem, because it: ? Limits a provider’s ability to tailor interventions effectively over the entire course of care. ? Threatens care continuity from session to session. ? Hinders advocacy efforts at the system level, making it nearly impossible to effect change at scale. ??
