Did you know that BüFA started out in 1883 as a trading company for colored woods, chemicals and oils - founded by cousins Ludwig Friedrich Carl Büsing and Friedrich Ludwig Fasch. At that time, Oldenburg had a population of just 19,000 and the two business partners bought a plot of land on Bahnhofstrasse for 50,000 gold marks. From this modest beginning, BüFA has developed into an international chemical company. Today, over 700 employees work in the various business areas of BüFA GmbH & Co. KG, BüFA Chemikalien, BüFA Cleaning and BüFA Composite Systems GmbH & Co. KG. From two entrepreneurs with an idea to an international company. LinkedIn's algorithm has handed me a solid nori breakfast about seaweed plastics, and it's exciting to see this technology finally coming to me personally. For years, it's seemed like other green tech and always "5 years away." I see the set of seaweed waves coming in, and there are so many reasons to get excited: 1. Ocean-friendly bioplastics won't pollute our seas. 2. Less plastic in our landfills and more packaging in my garden. 3. Kelp forest restoration: Seaweed is home for a wild variety of natural critters that grow the near-shore ocean garden #kelpforests. They added incredible knowledge to the carbon removal side of kelp farming. The potential ripple effects are enormous. A scale up of seaweed farming for bioplastics, will be simultaneously tackling climate change, restoring marine habitats, and closing circles for economics. GREEN BAY —?Green Bay Packaging Inc.?on Wednesday announced a multi-year investment to modernize its 59-year-old pulp and containerboard mill about 40 miles northwest of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Ahlstrom Agrees to Sell Its Aspa Pulp Mill in Sweden to Sweden Timber. Ahlstrom has signed an agreement to sell its Aspa pulp mill in Sweden to Sweden Timber, which includes all mill operations. Located about 122 km south of Stockholm, the Aspa mill produces approximately 200,000 tonnes of bleached and unbleached softwood pulp annually and employs 174 people. Ahlstrom sought a buyer committed to the mill's development and long-term success, allowing the company to focus on its specialty materials portfolio. Sweden Timber's CEO expressed enthusiasm for working with the existing team and serving current customers. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024. Cerbras, a national reference in the porcelain and ceramic coatings segment and present in the market for over 30 years, is an example in the industry recognized for its environmental, social, and corporate practices. Cerbras adopts various #sustainable practices that ensure product quality and reduce environmental impacts and as such, has gained the ESG-FIEC seal. Among these activities, the reuse of water from the production process stands out, as it operates in a closed loop: after use, it is sent to the treatment plant and returns to use in the production process. Additionally, Cerbras is a pioneer in Brazil in the use of #Biogas, one of the cleanest energy sources available today. It is also worth noting that Cerbras reintegrates manufacturing residues into the production cycle, such as uncontaminated clay powder and ceramic shards, as well as residues from the processing of granite from third parties, thus contributing to the circular #economy.
