In September 2024, a team of Southwest District deputies received a call from the Veterans Crisis Line regarding a 28-year-old male who expressed intentions to harm himself. Deputies?and a Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) member immediately began searching for the individual, utilizing all available resources. It was determined that he was a student at a local Lakeland university but had temporarily traveled to Hillsborough County. Upon his return to Polk County, deputies, and a Missing Persons detective quickly located him and ensured he received a mental health evaluation due to his prior threats of self-harm. This successful response was a collaborative effort between university deputies, patrol officers, detectives, dispatchers, and RTCC staff, ensuring the subject’s safety. Outstanding teamwork by all involved! ???? #VeteransSupport #YouAreNotAlone #CommunityFirst #MentalHealthAwareness #StrongerTogether
