As a Dallas-based company serving the law enforcement profession, Polis joins in solidarity with the Dallas Police Department and entire City of Dallas to honor the memory of Officer Darron Burks, who was brutally assassinated on August 29th while sitting in his patrol car outside a neighborhood community center. For folks outside the Dallas area who haven't heard of him, prior to starting his police career in 2023, Ofc. Burks served for 18 years as a math teacher at an inner city charter high school devoted to giving struggling kids a chance to earn their diplomas and prepare for economic independence. Ofc. Burks continued his life of public service by joining Dallas PD, where he patrolled the same neighborhoods in which many of his students grew up. Ofc. Burks' ultimate sacrifice and dedication to selflessly serving others exemplifies everything that is noble about policing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ofc. Burks' family and friends, and with the entire Dallas PD. Finally, we pray for the continued recovery of DPD Senior Corporal Karissa David and Senior Corporal Jamie Farmer, who were also shot and injured while trying to assist Ofc. Great tribute however, communities across the nation must come together and recognize that these men and women who serve as law enforcement professionals must be treated with respect as they are our partners when it comes to community safety. I grow weary of the rest in peace. I grow weary of the rest and power, how about we the community help our men and women serving in law-enforcement, who are doing their best for protect people who they don’t know and why do they do it “commitment, and character”
