As per the ARAI report average Indians travel between 25-30 km daily, out of which 2Wheelers are the top choice for Indians for commute. India has more than 20Mn+ registered two-wheelers, out of which 40% of them are parked in respective parking spaces most of the time.[1] Let's say 3% of riders choose to bicycle or electric cycle over this 2W, how much they can save per month, Step 1: 1) The cost of Active 6G ex-Showroom price is around INR 86480. [2] Downpayment = 9609 Rs Loan Interest = 9.7% EMI = 2766Rs ( for 36 months) Cost of Running this vehicle = 2.5~3 Rs/km ( fuel price) Maintenance cost = 1~1.5 Rs/km 2) Average Indians travel 25km daily, With 24 working days in a month, it will travel 600km. Cost of Running this vehicle = 1500~1800 Rs/ per month 3) Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) TCO = Fixed Cost (EMI) + Refueling Cost + Maintenace Cost = 2766 + 1800 + 900 = 5466 Rs Step 2: Now, come back to the previous data, 40% of vehicles parked i.e. 80,00,000 2W. If 3% of these rider switch to cycling or e-cycling, how much impact it will create: 1?? Green Rider Added = 2,40,000 (3% of 80,00,000) 2?? Monthly Savings = TCO difference ( ICE - E-cycle) = 5466 - ( 800+70+110) [EMI+Charging Cost + Maintenance] = 4486 Rs/month 3?? Gross Savings = Total Rider * Month Savings = INR 107.66 Cr As you can see from the above calculation 3% of conversion contributes nearly Rs 108 crore in savings which will be available for people to re-invest in other products or services.
