Today, we’re proud to celebrate two years since the groundbreaking CHIPS and Science Act was enacted into law. The act provided $52 billion in funding and incentives to strengthen U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and R&D. It also resulted in the creation of Natcast, the operator of the National Semiconductor Technology Center (“NSTC”). This pivotal legislation represents a once-in-a generation opportunity for the U.S. to drive the pace of innovation, set standards, and strengthen our global leadership in semiconductor design and manufacturing, which is critical to our country’s national security and economic prosperity. As we commemorate the incredible progress the CHIPS Act has enabled over the past two years, we remain committed to advancing disruptive technological breakthroughs and building a sustainable semiconductor workforce development ecosystem through collaboration and a shared commitment to American-led innovation. Understanding the role of corporate real estate in building semiconductor fabs of the future

I don't know. "Amazing"? "Thrilling"? Not sure I'm coming up with superlatives that do this justice. Plenty of nay-sayers will highlight the lack of experience within the US when it comes to advanced packaging. They aren't wrong. But sayers of nay tend to lean on favorably negative facts. (Ick. "Favorably negative" is a terribly accurate thing to say there, unfortunately). And Amkor Technology, Inc. will not have an easy time of it. Arizona has become the new hotspot for semiconductor manufacturing. Already facing tough challenges in workforce establishment, and that's before the heavy lifting of international knowledge transfer. This industry does not sit still. Local universities and community colleges are serving a greater and greater role. And platforms like Chipquest streamline and modernize the onboarding and knowledge transfer process to help avoid the sheer overwhelm already experienced elsewhere. The need is present. The commitment is there (by both government and industry). The workforce tools are in place. I expect success at Amkor AZ. #semiconductor #training #onboarding

The semiconductor manufacturing industry is changing thanks to this initiative. Panama offers many advantages for semiconductor manufacturing. L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire a 100 per cent stake in SiliConch Systems for Rs 1.83 billion. The deal consists of an upfront amount of Rs 1.33 billion payable at closing, and a deferred amount of Rs 0.5 billion payable over four years, subject to closing adjustments and achievement of certain targets and other conditions. CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited Solutions has taken a significant step into the semiconductor design market by acquiring Renesas Electronics’s RF components business for $36 million. This acquisition includes valuable intellectual property, equipment, and key employees, along with the formation of a new subsidiary, CG Semi Pvt Ltd, to manage OSAT operations. Chairman Vellayan Subbiah emphasized the growing role of Indian talent in global semiconductor design, a high-growth and high-profit sector. We were delighted to attend a meeting yesterday with representatives from SMD Semiconductor, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Department for Business and Trade and Dave Smith, UK’s National Technology Adviser, to talk about opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing in the UK and Malaysia. ? Our head of advanced packaging, Jayakrishnan Chandrappan spoke about CSA Catapult and the UK’s extensive expertise in compound semiconductors and how important they are for developing next-generation technologies. ? ? Over the last 12 months, CSA Catapult and SMD Semiconductor have been exploring several collaboration opportunities, which were formalised with the signing of an MoU at the House of Commons in July.?The MoU lays the foundation for collaboration in the design, prototyping and manufacturing of next-generation semiconductor and compound semiconductor technologies, as well as helping SMD Semiconductor to establish an R&D office in the UK. ? By strengthening international partnerships between the UK and Malaysia, we’re supporting the UK’s National Semiconductor Strategy through the development of more secure and resilient supply chains for the UK’s semiconductor industry. ? ?
