ATTENTION former #KellyMoore Kelly-Moore Paints Employees Seeking Employment!!!! Since Kelly-Moore Paints closed last week I have received scores of questions (and comments!) from former employees of the brand. THE most common among them: "Do you know anyone hiring?" Also reaching out last week were two paint companies who when they noticed the sudden #KellyMoore following I had developed were wondering if I knew anyone looking for work. So allow me to make an introduction! Lisa Kudukis at Dunn-Edwards Corporation tells me that her company is hiring AND looking to expand into markets formerly served by Kelly-Moore. Dunn-Edwards is hiring for "All positions in Northern California stores: in-store and outside sales, architectural reps, dealer reps, delivery drivers, etc." You can reach Lisa via her profile here or via her email: [email protected]. I have sent several people Lisa's way and they are getting interviews and I'm also aware of several former K-M's who have already accepted jobs at Dunn. Brad Gisolo at Rodda Paint Co was also in touch and his company is also looking to hire. Even more interesting, Rodda Paint Co is willing to pay to relocate any K-M paint professionals interested in moving to areas in the PNW where they currently have needs. I'm also aware that many independent paint dealers are hiring and while there is no central point of contact, calling your local paint store and asking if they're hiring would likely yield results. Sign On Bonuses 101: If you don't need to offer one to be competitive in your area, don't. This isn't going to be a dealbreaker for a strong candidate who resonates with your culture. Don't offer anything ridiculous like $10,000 - $15,000 in your ads. Most techs have been or know someone who has been burned by this dealer scam. They know they will never see this $ and it's total B.S. It will hurt your reputation. If you are negotiating with a tech one-on-one, you can offer anything you both agree to that sounds fair. If you are running an ad that lots of techs will see, $2K - $5K is the sweet spot. Pay out a portion when the box drops then the remainder over 30 / 60 / 90 days.
