Oft heralded - but yet to arrive at any true scale for all parties...bi-directional charging has long been part of Nissan Motor Corporation's vision. Longer than any other OEM to the best of my knowledge! So - here's recent news of real significance I'd say! 'Nissan's incorporation into the ChargeScape alliance is of particular significance given its?sales of over 650,000 LEAF models, one of the first EVs with the capability to export power back to the grid' 'Nissan is?investing heavily?in bidirectional charging (V2X) capabilities for its entire electric fleet, and ChargeScape is currently building virtual power plants composed of bidirectional EVs in?California,?Texas?and other markets' And as I've suggested for the longest time, once EV owners start earning money from electric vehicles - the game changes BIG time!???? Something I spoke about onstage earlier this year with both Luca de Meo & Peter Rawlinson. And they know stuff! Perhaps I should take counsel with some of my friends at Octopus Energy or Fermata Energy...they know stuff too! ?? #energy #bidirectional #electricvehicles #automotive

Despite the short-term challenges the automotive industry has faced, electrification is the future. No massive shift in technology adoption has been a straight line.?? ? One way to address the barriers to adoption in range anxiety is by enabling greater power efficiency with scalable platforms to make it easier for automakers to design once for all of their vehicle platforms.?? ? Last week, we announced a landmark multi-year deal with Volkswagen Group to be the primary supplier of a complete power box solution as part of its next-generation traction inverter for its Scalable Systems Platform (SSP). This unique and scalable solution will allow VW to customize their power needs across their vehicle brands in a very cost-effective way to continue to bring innovative EVs to market. #electricvehicles #innovation #sustainability #volkswagengroup #siliconcarbide #weAREonsemi #automotive #semiconductors ?

https://lnkd.in/gAQgHV_a Nissan has signed an agreement to invest in ChargeScape, a joint venture equally owned by BMW, Ford, and Honda, focused on integrating electric vehicles with the power grid. Once the deal is finalized, Nissan will hold a 25% stake in ChargeScape and will introduce its services to Nissan EV drivers across the U.S. and Canada. Last month, BMW, Ford, and Honda launched ChargeScape, a platform that wirelessly connects to electric vehicles and manages energy flow based on real-time grid conditions. The software helps reduce demand during grid constraints through smart charging (V1G) and can even send energy back to the grid when needed (V2G). By offering a unified platform for power utilities, automakers, and customers, ChargeScape simplifies the process of integrating electric vehicles with the grid. ?? Nissan Joins ChargeScape Alliance of Automakers to Advance EV Charging and V2G Technology ?? In a significant move towards advancing electric vehicle (EV) technology, Nissan has joined the ChargeScape alliance of automakers, which includes industry giants like Ford, General Motors, and Tesla. This strategic partnership aims to revolutionize at-home charging solutions and unlock the potential of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities for EV drivers and operators. ?? Who is ChargeScape? ChargeScape is a leading innovator in the development and deployment of advanced charging solutions for electric vehicles. Their focus is on creating scalable, efficient, and reliable charging infrastructure that supports the growing demand for electric transportation. Stakeholders in the Alliance The ChargeScape alliance comprises some of the most influential names in the automotive industry. With BMW, Honda, Ford, General Motors, Tesla, and now Nissan, they are forming a powerful alliance dedicated to advancing electric vehicle charging solutions. Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Technology V2G is a game-changer for both EV drivers and the broader energy grid. By enabling EVs to feed electricity back into the grid during peak demand periods, V2G can: - Lower Electricity Bills and Stabilize the Grid by providing additional energy sources during peak times, enhancing grid stability. - Create Revenue Streams: Allow EV owners to earn money by renting out their vehicle's battery capacity to the grid. Last month, BMW, Ford and Honda?announced the launch?of ChargeScape, whose software wirelessly connects to electric vehicles and manages the flow of electrons in line with real-time grid conditions, temporarily reducing demand when the grid is constrained through smart charging (V1G) and even leveraging sending energy back into the power grid when needed (V2G). By providing a single platform for power utilities, automakers and their customers, ChargeScape streamlines the complexity of electric vehicle-grid integration. This alliance is not just about charging—it's about transforming the way we think about energy. By harnessing the power of V2G, we can create a more resilient, sustainable, and cost-effective energy ecosystem for everyone.
