On March 4, 2025, at 12:01 EM ET, tariffs of 25% went into effect for products of Canada or Mexico entering the US, except for energy products from Canada, which will be assessed a 10% duty. Note that the tariffs apply to “products of Mexico/Canada,” with limited exceptions for personal use items, donations, and US goods returning. There is no grace period for goods in transit. In addition, the current tariff of 10% on products of China or Hong Kong entering the US has been increased to 20%. Goods in transit will be excluded from the additional tariffs until March 7th, provided the goods were loaded on a vessel or are in transit on the final mode of transport prior to February 1st at 12:01 AM ET.?Entry after March 7th will require payment of the additional tariffs.
