"Today, I participated in an act that transcends the simplicity of a blood donation; it's a profound commitment to humanity. The journey from the bustling cityscape to the quiet sanctum of the donation center resonated with a sense of purpose. The hum of machines and the gentle care of the medical professionals reminded me that each drop of blood carries the potential to be a lifeline for someone in distress. In a world often dominated by chaos, a blood donation is a silent symphony of compassion, a gesture that speaks louder than words. It's about being part of a collective effort, a silent pact to safeguard the fragility of life. As the crimson fluid flowed from my veins into the sterile bag, I couldn't help but reflect on the interconnectedness of our shared humanity. Let us together shine a spotlight on the significance of blood donation, not just as a medical procedure but as a testament to our shared responsibility for community well-being. It's a call to action, an invitation to weave a tapestry of resilience and support for those facing health challenges. Join me in this journey of altruism, where each donated drop becomes a bridge connecting one life to another. ??? #BloodDonation #HumanityInAction #CommunityResilience #Altruism #LifeSaver" #nism #sebi #nse #pmmodi

The mission of the CHP is to create conditions, both locally and globally, that foster peace, justice, health, connection, opportunity, hope, and human flourishing. I deeply appreciate all the ways you and others have supported this work through the years: some financially, some with your labor and material donations, all with love. Thank you . A little background on the CHP: Established in 2010 and formally gaining 501c3 status in 2012, the Community Hope Project evolved out of a pen pal relationship between two 8-year-old girls, one in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and the other in San Diego, CA (my oldest daughter, Quinlan!).? I worked with over 100 students (from both MiraCosta College and UC San Diego) to raise money, travel to Sierra Leone, collaborate on constructing a school and community center, start several projects: microfinance, local gardening, water filtration, etc., and build friendships. Two local community organizations grew out of it. Human connection, curiosity, compassion, and a thirst for global and local restorative justice were (and still are) at the core of the Community Hope Project. We live in a lopsided, inequitable world where many, MANY people do not have the basic things they need to live and flourish, through no fault of their own.? Our global and local inequities have historical and structural roots, and we have the power to remedy their lingering harmful impacts, together. We need to build awareness, ignite empathetic connections across the typical social, national, regional, religious, class, and racial/ethnic boundaries that divide us, and find ways to collectively catalyze positive structural and cultural change.?

What is the value of ”Take Your Daughter to Work Day? We think it is education and empathy, so the child knows what the parent does daily, but it is so much more. It instills lifelong work values. Meahgan Gibson attended a “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.?To this day she reminds me of a few choice words I stated during a staff meeting but she also pursued a career in Leisure and Hospitality. More importantly she picked up values like; everybody is critical to success (especially the lowest paid hourly associates), every person has a story, treat people with dignity and respect, and if they have a name tag, user their name. Grow by trying new things that others shy away from. Powerful words are “thank you” and “can you help me”, and assisting others even if you do not have time. ?Today this was in my feed. I had no idea she was working on this. ?Biscuits and socks, who knew? But more importantly, a young professional (from a generation many professionals belittle) leading a project that reflects well on the brand and does good for the community.?Also hats off to Dennis Pfaff, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Cracker Barrel for creating an organization culture where young professional growth occurs. Take your daughter to work and as a leader, your relationships matter more than you know.?#cio #leadership
TLDR: I've been working on something pretty cool! "The Maple Street Mantra: Help People, Serve Others, Be A Part Of The Community" is why I joined the team. I'm grateful to Maple Street Biscuit Company for allowing me to take on something so near and dear to who we are. *Maple Street Silly Socks* a portion of sock sales will go directly to LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services and U.F. Health, supporting their incredible work to maximize the Gift of Life through organ and tissue donation. This is particularly meaningful because giving back has always been a big part of who I am. From working with the Miami Children's Initiative during my time at the University of Florida to my work with the Harrison County Community Foundation, I've seen firsthand the impact we can make when we come together. Your support means the world and will help create positive change in our community. P.S. The socks are pretty cool as well https://lnkd.in/gKJnfwB6

Back to School Fundraiser Imagine a world where every individual is treated with dignity and respect. Imagine a world where all schools follow trauma-informed, neuroscience-aligned, neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-driven, and collaborative approaches. At the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint, we are working tirelessly to make that world a reality. Seclusion and restraint are harmful practices that affect numerous individuals and families, particularly those with children with disabilities, Black and brown children, and children with a trauma history. Our mission is to reduce and eliminate these practices and ensure safer schools for students, teachers, and staff. We need your help to continue this critical work. A gift of: $20 can provide vital support for families. $50 can support training for professionals. $100 can help us develop workshops and advocacy efforts. Your donation, no matter the size, will directly impact our ability to promote positive change and protect those in need. Together, we can end these harmful practices and create a better, more compassionate world. Thank you for your support. https://lnkd.in/e2F_qdzV #EndSeclusion

Being educated and aware of Stroke symptoms can help save a life.
For Hayden Homes , the impact of stroke is personal (their story via link below). In 2023 Hayden Homes presented a check to SAO for $100,000 representing a four-year commitment of funding to the organization. As a Stroke Awareness Oregon Board Member, our board and executive team are grateful to Hayden Homes, title sponsor, for their support of SAO helping bring Randy and Mary Travis to Central Oregon. “This event is a chance to raise awareness and much-needed funds to help prevent others from being impacted or losing their loved ones to the heartbreaking effects of stroke," said Deborah Flagan , vice president of community engagement and giving with Hayden Homes. Great conversation from CCS Fundraising on giving trends among donors of color. They cover shifting economic realities, decreasing trust in the #nonprofit sector, and more. This is an important conversation both for fundraisers and also wealth planners who are advising clients of color. #philanthropy #financialadvisor #wealthplanner #donoradvisedfunds
