Our partner Carbon Mapper just released 300 methane and CO2 detections from our Tanager-1 satellite! These were identified across the world from a variety of sources, like plumes from oil and gas basins to landfills spotted between cloud cover. Read more:
?? Big news from orbit: Tanager-1 is already delivering game-changing observations that Carbon Mapper is using to pinpoint super-emitters! Just three months after the Carbon Mapper Coalition celebrated the launch of Tanager-1, built and operated by Planet with technology from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, we’re busy detecting methane and carbon dioxide emissions across the globe. ?? ?? Today, we're releasing over 300 methane and CO2 plumes from oil & gas, coal, waste and agriculture sources on our public data portal. These initial detections from Tanager-1’s first three months in orbit showcase the incredible potential of remote sensing data. Check out some of the early plumes and groundbreaking capabilities: https://lnkd.in/g9BFeUj4 Stay tuned for more exciting updates, plume images and Tanager data! ?? #ClimateAction #CutMethane #MethaneData
