Plymouth Stories: Michelle Wise-Bailey, Associate Residential Services Manager "Thirteen years ago, I made the cross-country move to Seattle from Saint Louis. I came here to start my life over. When I arrived, though, I experienced homelessness and lived in a shelter. I was put on a wait list for permanent housing, and eventually I moved into a downtown building run by Plymouth Housing. When I moved into my new home, my reaction was "wow, this is mine." It was something I felt like I accomplished. In March 2012, Plymouth hired me to work as an on-call building assistant. Later that year, I went full-time and moved out to a market-rate apartment—because I knew somebody else needed Plymouth's help and support more than I did. I wanted to pay it forward. I wanted someone else to experience the awesome opportunities Plymouth has given to me. In 2017, I became the building coordinator at Plymouth on First Hill. Today, I'm proud to be the associate residential service manager of that building." [ #PlymouthStories: A series that illuminates the shared humanity of people impacted by homelessness.
