I'm convinced that most brokers who think they need more sales actually need better account management. Say you onboard a customer with five divisions, all of which route their own freight. How confident are you that your account manager: 1) Is actively trying to grow the business in the one division they started with? 2) Actually knows that there are four other divisions, all of which have freight? 3) Is trying to connect with and grow business in the other four divisions? If your account manager is just passively managing the business you handed them, you're better off teaching them to grow your existing business, rather than onboarding a bunch of other business (that will also be mismanaged). #freight #3pl #transportation

STOP FOCUSING ON FREIGHT! Yeah, I said it... The thing you want most comes when you least expect it, and stop chasing it. Stop "dialing for dollars" and asking every person you engage with if they "got freight". Learn to serve others. Build relationships, build trust, make your biggest asset yourself. Be truthful, don't lie to the people you do business with, and always know and value your worth as much as you value your relationship with clients. The truth is, the best clients are the ones you grow with over time. Those that value your input, and your Servant Leadership in handling their transportation program. There is tons of talk all over social media right now and throughout the industry about "broker transparency" leveling the playing field. Any person that believes that myself or any other person disclosing rates is going to level the playing field is solely focused on short term transactional profits rather than long-term ROI from relationships with great clients built over years of communication and hard work. The industry needs a lot of change, I am not in disagreement of that.
