At its peak, the restaurant chain had more than 700 locations across both the USA and Canada. ???? ???? And there isn't a clear cut reason for what caused the restaurant's collapse. ? Global food solutions business, Chokdee, has announced the opening of a warehouse unit at Elland Road Leicester for use as a menu development facility and new product development kitchen, as well as a training and national distribution centre. Located close to Leicester’s Outer Ring Road, as well as M1 motorway Junctions 21 and 21A, the unit includes single-storey warehousing and open-plan two-storey offices, together with ample parking, on a prominent corner site on the west side of the estate. Working with its holding company, Giggling Restaurants Ltd, Chokdee develops original Thai dishes using the diverse ingredients found across Thailand which are sold in Giggling Squid restaurants nationwide. The first Giggling Squid restaurant opened in 2002 and the brand continues to expand, with almost 51 restaurants across the UK, including Leicester, employing more than 1,500 staff.

In 1975, McDonald's entered the Hong Kong market by opening its first outlet in Causeway Bay. At that time, hamburgers were regarded by the Chinese as mere snacks, rather than a full meal. McDonald's invested considerable effort in changing this perception. Additionally, their self-service fast-food model not only revolutionized the local dining industry but also instilled a habit of queuing among Hong Kong residents. It is said that McDonald's triggered a "bathroom revolution" in Hong Kong; many places at the time lacked public restrooms, and those that existed were often unsanitary. As a result, the clean restrooms in McDonald's restaurants became one of the appealing factors for customers.
