??? We’re thrilled to share the inspiring story of Justin Cruz, our spirited 9-year-old player from the Chicago Heat! Just months ago, Justin faced a life-changing diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which meant stepping away from the game he loves. Yet, our incredible community came together, showcasing the transformative power of support! A generous donation of baseballs and equipment not only brought back his smile but reinforced that he is never alone in this journey. With his doctor’s approval, Justin has returned to the field, surrounded by his teammates who cheer him on every step of the way. Let’s continue to rally behind our young athletes and make a lasting impact! ??? #ChicagoHeat #BaseballFamily #Inspiration

??♀?Reflecting on the Larapinta Trek??♀? It's been 2 weeks since completing the Larapinta Trek to support Parkinson's Queensland Inc. and this picture is proof of the journey. The experience left me with a mix of emotions and a sense of shock - here's why: 1. Digital Disconnect: 4 days without digital distractions allowed me to truly let go. ?? 2. Physical Challenge: Pushing my body beyond its limits and achieving what seemed impossible. ?? 3. Mental Resilience: Overcoming thoughts of giving up and pushing through. ?? 4. Nature's Beauty: Witnessing phenomenal sunrises, sunsets, night skies, and the harmony of fauna and flora in a harsh ecosystem. ?????? 5. Perspective on Parkinson's: considering the daily challenges faced by those with Parkinson's, including my Mum. ?? This experience highlighted the need for more digital detox, time in nature, and physical and mental challenges in my life. Fundraising efforts for Parkinson's Queensland will continue, so as to support their essential work in research, education, and aiding sufferers and their families, knowing that it makes a difference. Our donation page is still open, and KT & I have raised $2,574 thanks to our amazing donors so far. ?? If you can, please help us reach $3,000 for our efforts in the NT. https://lnkd.in/gjXs-Ybv #ParkinsonsAwareness #LessonsLearnt #TimeForAction
Aren't the glowing reds of the Aussie outback just stunning?! This team of Parkinson's Queensland Inc. supporters sure did think so! Last month this passionate team set out to trek 50km of the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, raising $35,222 along the way to improve the lives of Queenslanders living with Parkinson's Disease. What an incredible effort!

When I started at William & Mary in 2020, I never imagined myself becoming an entrepreneur. Now, four years later, I'm ecstatic to announce that Aaraj and I have been selected for Batch 17 of Lighthouse Labs RVA's startup accelerator program. What began as an idea between two friends at the first floor tables of Swem Library, VerbaAI LLC has blossomed into collaborations with multiple state leagues of the League of Women Voters, and a strong working relationship with Microsoft's Democracy Forward team. At VerbaAI LLC, we are dedicated to building software that fortifies the information environment. From tracking emerging narratives to detecting cutting-edge deepfake videos with Forentify, we are committed to making sure that accurate, trustworthy information prevails in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The past year and a half has been a thoroughly rewarding experience, and I’m excited to continue to take this venture, as Mike Tierney would say, “beyond the ivory tower.” My time at W&M was an instrumental part of my entrepreneurial journey. I wouldn’t be here without the immense help of the William & Mary Global Research Institute and the W&M Entrepreneurship Hub and the opportunities they gave me to present my work. My intellectual curiosity was fostered at DisinfoLab W&M, a truly unique organization at the college. Leading the lab for the past 3 years, as well as co-founding the lab’s software incubator was without a doubt the most impactful experience I had as a student. I’ll never forget the countless hours spent poring over research reports and debugging MVPs with students who shared this same entrepreneurial vision. And of course, I wouldn’t be here without the dedication of my fellow Tribe alum and co-founder Aaraj, the hardest working person I know, who has been on this journey with me every step of the way. There are so many people who have helped get me where I am today, but in particular, I would like to thank Mike Tierney, Ryan A. Musto, Ph.D., Dennis Smith, Amy Oakes, Ana Carcani Rold, Shane Szarkowski, PhD, Tim Ryan, Graham Henshaw, Tracy Gronewold, Tom Plant, Megan Hogan, Dave Leichtman, Ethan Chumley, Matthew Masterson, Tim Carroll, Dhruv Gupta, Chris Hoyle, Jasmin Alsaied, Roger Yee, Barbara A. B., Navneet V., Ellen McCarthy, and Doowan Lee for their unwavering support through this journey. Here’s to the future of VerbaAI!
We had a stellar group of applicants this round, including what might be the largest numbers ever from Virginia and the Richmond area. We are so excited to introduce you to our Batch 17 Founders! ?? Journey to the Finish Line for a Cause ?? As the sun rises, so does the warrior in me, challenging the limits, embracing the grind, and aiming beyond the horizons. Today, I share with you not just a snippet of my journey, but the essence of a dream that extends far beyond myself. ??♂???♀???♂??? For months, I've been training for the upcoming Charity Quadrathlon. Each stroke in the water, each pedal on the bike, each step on the trail, and each paddle in the kayak have been moments of introspection, growth, and unwavering determination. ?? But this journey isn't just about pushing physical boundaries. It's a testament to the power of consistency, dedication, and the profound belief that we, as individuals, have the capacity to make a significant impact. Through sweat, grit, and perseverance, I'm not just aiming for the finish line but striving to open a gateway of opportunities for those in need. This event is not just a race; it's a mission to support Action Medical Research, dedicated to supporting children's medical research and development of equipment to support those children in need. Every mile conquered symbolizes a beacon of hope, a step towards change, and a chance to empower. I invite you to join me in this endeavour—not just as spectators, but as partners in making a difference. Your support, be it through encouragement or donations, will fuel not only my journey but the dreams and aspirations of those we aim to help. ???? Together, let's prove that through consistency, dedication, and a heart to help, we can conquer any challenge and transform lives. Because in the end, it’s not just about reaching a goal; it’s about creating a ripple of change that echoes into eternity. ?? https://lnkd.in/gY8wKS7N #CharityQuadrathlon #TrainingForACause #MakeADifference #ConsistencyIsKey #EmpowermentThroughAction #TogetherWeCan #actionmedicalresearch

As we enter October, I'm reminded of the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together for a cause. This month marks the start of Hockey Fights Cancer, an initiative that unites the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. I'm proud to share that my son, Max, is participating in the "October Saves" challenge as part of this broader initiative. As the goalie for the Worcester Railers Mite Blue team, he's pledged to make 50 saves in 4 games this month, with each save raising funds for cancer research and patient support programs. This experience has taught our family valuable lessons: The importance of giving back to our community How sports can be a powerful vehicle for social good The resilience and determination of those fighting cancer every day I'm sharing this not just as a proud parent, but as a professional who believes in the power of purpose-driven initiatives. It's inspiring to see how organizations like the NHL and grassroots programs are leveraging their platforms to make a difference. If you're interested in supporting Max's effort or learning more about Hockey Fights Cancer, I've included a link Below. Every save, every share, and every donation brings us one step closer to our goal. Let's use our networks for good. Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight against cancer. https://lnkd.in/e-6bEXx7 #HockeyFightsCancer #OctoberSaves #CorporateSocialResponsibility #CommunityImpact #SportsForGood

How to use your surf community...
YourWave fundraiser yesterday was an amazing day and great success. With around 500 people turning up to surf waves, listen to great music, kids playing on the bouncy castles and amazing food. Together we raised a bucket load of cash for an amazing person going through a really tough time with cancer. It was truly amazing seeing the community come together. Thanks to the YourWave family for such a great day out and for looking after one of our crew????

April is #DonateLifeMonth, a time to raise awareness about the critical importance of organ donation. Organ donation stands as the last hope for countless individuals worldwide awaiting life-transforming transplants. While an official global waiting list figure remains vague, estimates suggest that millions of people are in urgent need of organs to survive. Numbers from the United States show that 17 people die each day while awaiting an organ transplant. Even more sobering, every 8 minutes, another person joins the transplant waiting list. These numbers underscore the pressing need for increased awareness and action regarding organ donation. Together, through education, advocacy, and active participation in organ donation programs, we can bridgethe gap between supply and demand, ensuring that every person awaiting a transplant receives the chance for a new beginning. #Transplant #OrganTransplant #TransplantLife #TransplantJourney #TransplantAwareness #LifeAfterTransplant #NewBeginning #GiftOfLife #OrganDonorHeroes #OrganDonationAwareness #BeAnOrganDonor
As we close out #WomensHistoryMonth and prepare for #DonateLifeMonth in April, we’re honored to share the inspiring story of Lavinia “Vinnie” Brooks. Today (Sept 5th) is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day, a cause that holds a very special place in my heart and in the heart of Tx Five. As some of you may know, the creation of Tx Five was driven by a personal experience that deeply affected my family. My younger brother suffered a severe spinal cord injury, and he continues to be an inspiration day in, day out. His resilience and positivity serve as a living reminder that no matter what you're faced with, you can overcome it. You can defy the odds and you can choose to make a truly positive impact on those around you. At Tx Five, we believe in making a positive impact not just in the biotech world, but in the wider patient community too. That's why we proudly donate a portion of our fees to Wings for Life, a spinal cord research foundation dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries. Our contributions are just one way we’re working to support life-changing research, and we are committed to continuing this mission. Let’s continue raising awareness and supporting research that can change lives. How do you achieve great things? Surround yourself with people who inspire you. This weekend, Culinary Care's first-ever Bank of America Chicago Marathon team will cross the finish line. For many people, the idea of fundraising is scarier than running the 26.2 miles. But, these five runners, have collectively raised over $12,000 to help make nourishment a lasting and integral part of cancer care, so that no one has to go through treatment hungry or alone. You don't have to be a runner to feel inspired by this community. ?? When I'm not feeling 100%, I think of these runners and how they had to train on days when they weren't feeling 100%. ?? When I'm getting in my head about fundraising, I think of how these runners got out of their comfort zones and asked their friends & family for donations (and they're not even done yet!). Can we help them get to$15,000 ahead of this weekend?! https://lnkd.in/ge-AcpUd
This Sunday, 5 amazing runners will be representing?#TeamCulinaryCare?at the?#ChicagoMarathon! ?? With every mile they’ve run in training and every step they take on race day, they’re raising vital funds and awareness to help deliver meals and support to families navigating a cancer diagnosis. We’re so proud to have them as part of our community and on our inaugural marathon team! ?? Drop your messages of support and motivation in the comments for: - Meghan Marth - Chris Neuhaus - Alexa Faia - Amalia Alcantar - Maria Knill To our runners and everyone participating, the whole Culinary Care community is cheering you on! Run with purpose and enjoy the journey! #community
