Morning coffee talks: My colleague witnessed and photographed a car fire last night, sparking some interesting discussions about fire spread between vehicles (naturally, as fire engineers, this is where our minds immediately go! ??). What was surprising was how the fire spread between cars that were spaced quite far apart. We suspect that bushes and plants between the vehicles played a big role in propagating the flames, especially given the recent dry and hot weather. Without these, the fire might have stayed isolated to the initial vehicle. The images don’t reveal any major spillages either. The initial cause remains unclear (though we suspect it could have been set intentionally?).
