Week 39 Challenge: “Succession of Command” The true strength of the U.S. Army and Marine Infantry comes not from weapon systems or platforms, but from the ability to apply perpetual flexibility. If either a leader or even a grunt with a critical weapon system becomes incapacitated, any other warrior in that platoon can step into his/her place and assume command and take control. This flexibility allows the platoon to quickly and smoothly fulfill the 9th Infantry Regiment’s motto: “Keep Up The Fire”. In this mode of game play, when a player loses any warrior, leader, or support game piece, he/she may (at the beginning of his/her next turn) choose any other remaining warrior, leader, or support game piece to replace that lost game piece by removing that chosen game piece from the board and placing the game piece that was lost in its place. There is no limit to how many times a player can do this; however, once a swap has occurred, the swapped piece is out of play and cannot be used in a later on replacement (to clarify, that piece is now completely out of play). The ability to swap a game piece does not apply to any of the asset game pieces (Sniper, 60mm Mortar, ICV).
