Magneto-Hydro-Dynamics is a fascinating discipline, because it allows us to create processes that seem stolen from science fiction, but have an indisputable merit: they work. I'm talking about thermoelectric generation without moving parts, liquids that solidify instantly due to the application of a magnetic field, control at the molecular level of the deposition of materials, melting of metals with levitation to avoid contact with the walls of the crucible, pumping and mixing of liquids without moving parts, sails for the propulsion of space vehicles and ever new applications that researchers with particularly vivid imagination continually create. The common thread is the combination of Fluid Dynamics with Electromagnetism, conducting fluids that move within a magnetic field, and it appears surprising how such different applications are modeled by the same system of equations.
We meet this year for the 13th edition of the Pamir in Carrie-le-Rouet, on the C?te d'Azur. It will be a pleasure to meet old friends as well as new ideas and new talents who have decided to become part of this Community
