At Safer Together, we consider our industry collectively as one very big, very diverse, very varied and one very team-oriented workplace. Assist and Assure is a major sharing initiative designed to proactively identify and mitigate risks during work preparation and execution. The 'A&A' approach involves structured, consistent, and line-led safety conversations, driven by supervisors equipped with essential soft skills and tools to facilitate effective safety conversations with the?workforce and empower them to openly address challenges and dilemmas. The primary objective of A&A is to prevent harm to frontline workers and ensure that “work only starts when everyone is convinced that it is safe to do so". Today's training session in Perth has 18 member company participants in the room, representing 2 operating companies and 6 contractor companies. By training these Safety Supervisors, it means we are one training session closer to A&A becoming our industry's common language when it comes to minimising harm to the frontline. In every turnaround/shutdown I been participated I told to the employees to remind other safety programs they has beed acquired during their experience and apply the positive attitude to the project and express the safety culture of the actual project. letting them know it's all about their safety and we are in the same team. Also mention some examples like LPSA, Safe Choice. Doing that you can engage their brain and remind their training and how to apply that training to the actual job.
