Understanding Strokes and How to Act FAST What is a Stroke? A stroke happens when there is a blockage or rupture in the blood vessels supplying blood to the brain. This can lead to brain damage and requires immediate medical attention. Recognizing & Knowing the signs of a stroke and acting quickly can save lives. Remember the acronym FAST: F - Face Drooping: Does one side of the face droop or feel numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the smile uneven? A - Arm Weakness: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward? S - Speech Difficulty: Is speech slurred or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is it repeated correctly? T - Time to Call 911: If you observe any of these signs, call 911 immediately. Time is critical. Understanding strokes and how to act quickly can make a life-saving difference. Share this information with your family, friends, and community to help spread awareness and encourage proactive health measures. 1 天前This is so very near and dear toy herat because on September 29, 2023. I had to BE FAST for my mother who had a large ischemic stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain. Because she had the best treatment in an extremely timely manner.?I am proud to say that a year later she is recovering and regaining her ability to walk. She talks to me and reminds me of things I have long forgotten!?Time is of the essence! Do not delay call emergency services and get to a hospital quickly! I'm proud to work for this organization that recognizes we are? #GreaterThan?stroke!
