If you do business in PA, this may be something to keep on your radar! Pennsylvania hourly workers, despite being more satisfied in their current jobs, are more likely to be searching for new jobs than workers in other states. ? They are more likely to have left a previous position due to relocation or finding a job with a better schedule. ? They are much more likely to prioritize flexibility, location, and training than other workers. ***Earn their loyalty by offering consistent work, advancement, benefits, and the right schedule*** Source: Voice of the American Worker Survey https://lnkd.in/e_s5txmF

The American Counseling Association Counselor Workforce Survey results for 2024 are out, and the findings are eye-opening. Nearly one-third of respondents (29%) hold a second part-time job, primarily for additional pay (77%). #Therapists invest in higher education, specialized training, CE credits, and supervision to better serve their clients. It's alarming that despite this dedication and investment, many need a second job to make ends meet. Counselors dedicate their careers to helping others (72% of respondents indicated they pursued this career to have a positive impact). Let's ensure they are compensated fairly. When we care for therapists and pay them the wages they deserve, entire communities benefit. #FairPay #ACA

Here's what employers in the Greater Omaha Chamber region were talking about in 2023: labor availability the top pain point for employers. What I've heard in conversations; young adults are eager for opportunities to prove themselves, while employers outside the region may place a higher value on the #Nebraska #workethic. Interestingly, job descriptions tend to overstate the importance of education and experience. #laboravailability #jobmarket #WhenImGone #Omaha Omaha Public Power District

"Age is just a number" "You're as young as you feel" Absolute tosh! Age is more than a number and if you've been a worker since being young particularly in a physical occupation, cleaning, building trades etc, you'll know it takes a toll on your body. You'll also know if you are over 50 it's much harder to gain full time employment. There's a huge amount of age discrimination in the jobs market and in society in general. However there is an employer who doesn't discriminate in terms of age, who offers the right kind of employment for you. Who's that? You! An increasing number of older people are finding that self-employment is the best way forward. However choosing what kind of self-employment and how to find customers for what you're offering in terms of skills, services or products often needs some training. I would urge all local authorities, job centres and national government to make this one of their priorities. Otherwise we run the risk of underutilising thr huge amount of skills that are in the older workforce. #elderpreneur

In this read something impactful was said that I look forward to sharing with my team. It shares the feedback of workers quitting less and one of the causes being them finding a balance within their current jobs/roles. As some of our roles may come with opportunities that can really get under our skin, I look forward to hearing what their balance is and what makes working here/there worth while and build on it. #AddValue #iWorkForComcast
Not only are fewer workers leaving their jobs, fewer are trying to. The Wall Street Journal cites recent data that shows why workers are thinking twice: the job market is tight and switching roles became much less lucrative in the last year-plus. The Journal also notes a recent poll that shows worker satisfaction is up because of solid compensation and flexibility. Piled together, workers stay put because any enticement to leave would have to be dramatic, and those can't-say-no opportunities have become rarer. My new policy reports collaborated with researchers at the University of Illinois’ Project for Middle Class Renewal (PMCR) is out! This report has developed a comprehensive approach to identify the factors that determine Employment Quality (in Illinois, EQ-IL 2.0). It is conceived of ten dimensions, each with sub-components,?including both subjective and objective measures. We use a large survey data collected in 2023 of 5600 employed in Illinois to identify the contribution of each of over 70 worker-reported working conditions and job characteristics toward explaining workers’ own ratings of the quality of their employment, from 0 to 10.?The single components most strongly explaining the variation in employment quality are job content, such as meaningfulness of work and sense of belonging, job security/risk, the physical and social conditions at work and labor union membership. While one's compensation is ranked high in "importance," these conditions prove more potent. Come check it out at: https://lnkd.in/gz6y4jQ8 https://lnkd.in/gZ98FCZz https://lnkd.in/gtQQZHde

In the US, the “job-hopping frenzy” of the pandemic years has given way to what many economists are calling the “big stay”. 3.5 million workers quit their jobs in May ‘24 vs. 4.5 million in Nov. ‘21, acc. to the U.S. Labor Department; and many surveys show fewer adults are seeking to leave their roles. So what has changed since the job-switching frenzy of the pandemic years? Survey data shows overall job satisfaction is rising, and that professionals are becoming increasingly content with the balance they’ve struck in the roles they currently have, with a recent study of working adults in the U.S. finding 73% “satisfied” at work.
