On this #NationalCaregiverDay, we feel it's important to call attention to the patients and caregivers who are increasingly taking an active role in their healthcare by independently seeking information to help inform decision-making. One year ago, we published a Patient Focused White Paper to gain an understanding of where patients and caregivers search for medical information. Based on our benchmarking survey and the three surveys of patients/caregivers, the authors recommend the following considerations for Medical Information Departments: 1. Develop more patient/caregiver focused resources, i.e., patient centric Medical Information website 2. Provide patient-centric medical information materials that can be utilized by HCPs to facilitate discussions with patients and caregivers 3. Evaluate the opportunity to provide additional information consistent with label and certain types of information not included in the label to patients and caregivers in response to unsolicited requests.
