Today, April 1, 2024, USA Pickleball announced that April is National Pickleball Month! #PickleballMonth https://lnkd.in/e-gkwkuE Using USA Pickleball standards as guidance, pickleball ratings are scaled from 1.0 to 5.5+, where 1.0 is a beginner and 5.5 or higher is a player with professional playing abilities. Below is the USA Pickleball Player Skill Ratings rubric that provides specific skills needed to achieve "beginner" levels of player rating. 1.0 to 2.0 Skill Rating This player is just starting to play pickleball and has no other sports background. Minimal understanding of rules of the game. 2.5 Skill Rating This player has limited experience. Can sustain a short rally with players of equal ability. Basic ability to keep score.

Without a doubt there is a severe shortage of courts – both indoor and outdoor – in most metro areas and a clear commercial opportunity.?Will be interesting to see how the operating economics and return on investment potential, as well as the increasing NIMBY factor, all plays out
With the growing popularity of pickleball I'm not surprised to see the intersection of it with commercial real estate -demand for buildings to be retrofitted for courts, ground up experiential hospitality ventures with pickleball courts being developed etc- I'm also not surprised to see ESPN jump aboard with televising the game, but I'm surprised how quickly some former tennis greats got involved and the size of the prize purses. Naysayers question why ESPN would televise this- I'm old enough to remember when ESPN was mocked for airing poker which was a great viewership success. I'm not sure of the viability of pickleball as a spectator sport but I don't see the demand for more courts being built ending soon

Pickleball (PB) is everywhere. Today, the pickle ballers took over my basketball court. Personally, I prefer a pick up game of hoops, ultimate frisbee or soccer or basketball. I prefer team sports that have a lot of movement.. But you can't ignore PBs current popularity. Also it is good to see target shooting and paint ball are down. Q.
