With the new President dominating headlines Everyone's talking about massive change But real transformation starts much closer to home... In times of uncertainty and when social media is flooded with grand promises of sweeping reforms, people sharing their hopes and fears and overall optimism and cynicism about what's to come… The most meaningful changes don't start with bold headlines or campaign promises. They start in our small circles of influence. While politicians debate about transforming entire nations, you can transform: - How your team approaches challenges? - How your company builds its culture? - How your community treats one another And here's the beautiful part: Those you influence will carry those positive changes to their own circles. Your impact ripples outward, touching the lives of people you'll never even meet. While the world debates big changes, start with what's in front of you. That's where your greatest impact lies.

The Awesome Power of Hope By former Syndicate Chair, Neville D Christie Friday 09 August 2024 It’s far too early to tell the outcome… When so many nations are riven with instabilities, demonstrations, war, and turmoil.?And when the Divided States of America has seriously lost its way, However, suddenly, President Biden’s withdrawing from the presidential race, and the change of political realities in the USA, have sparked a surge of hope in the USA and its allies.?This surge is a testament to the profound impact of effective leadership. [Potential] leaders like Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, and the Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Muhammad Yunus who has just been sworn in as the head of Bangladesh's interim government, are, suddenly, unexpectedly, symbols of renewed optimism. Together they demonstrate how genuine hope can transform societies, individual lives, relationships, and businesses. These leaders share a common trait - they model hope. This goes beyond mere words; their actions and behaviours embody a hopeful outlook. They smile, laugh, connect with people on a human level, and remain steadfast in their vision for a better future. This creates a sense of safety, possibility, and shared purpose among their followers. Hope-filled leaders foster an environment where people feel valued and motivated. According to Lopez et al (2009), hope positively correlates with workplace performance, physical health, and psychological well-being. By modelling hope, leaders can enhance these outcomes on a larger scale, benefiting entire communities and nations. So, right now, it’s vital that those of us who lead businesses and other organisations, dig deep into our psyches and into the positive, emerging, new realities, so we model and action hope. The new STEEP Renaissance As we look, and act, and change, we find there are a rising number of new science discoveries, new technologies, new forms of energy, new innovations, and new mindware, orgware, and peopleware reasons for rekindling this hope. Together - as millions of businesses world-wide take these positive transformations to market?-?these positive transformations make a STEEP Renaissance possible during our next decade. ·?????“Positive businesses with soul incubate the human spirit, while negative businesses, without soul, destroy it.” - a #Nevilleism. You can accesz these resources There is a membership group, recently launched, that provides a growing body of resources you can use: ·?????to create realistic and powerful Hope ·?????to transform you, and your business… and ·?????to create far better futures… so that ·?????you play your role in making the new Renaissance happen. ?? What Does Hope Mean to You? ?? As we embark on a new year, SSM Health has asked a profound question: What does hope mean to you? Watching our leaders articulate their thoughts in this video touched my heart and inspired deep reflection. Saad shared how hope carries us through the hard moments to what truly matters, and Gary reminded us that hope is the belief that tomorrow will be better than today. For me, hope is not just a concept; it’s an energy, a quiet yet steady guide that whispers, “Keep going.” It’s the resilience to rise again and the vision to dream beyond current limits. Hope isn’t loud or brash. It’s the gentle hand we don’t see but always feel. It’s the bridge we build between doubt and belief, between challenges and triumphs. It’s the thread that weaves purpose and possibility into each day. Inspired by this, I wrote a poem: "Hope" Hope is not a roar; it’s a flame, Quiet but fierce, never the same. It whispers courage, steady and true, A bridge from here to something new. It lingers when the night feels long, A silent note in life’s deep song. Through every trial, loss, and fight, Hope is the ember that births new light. It’s the seed that grows through stone, A gentle force we call our own. Not bound by time, it holds its place, A steadfast beacon of boundless grace. Hope reminds us, in its tender way, That even shadows lead to day. -Jenn Greene In healthcare, in our communities, and in ourselves, hope is what allows us to serve, to heal, and to dream of better tomorrows. ?? AT ITS CORE, CHANGE IS ABOUT CONNECTING NETWORKS TO EACH OTHER! If you go to Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church, the first thing you’ll notice are the large weekend services, which attract tens of thousands of congregants. But what you’ll miss is the importance of the small prayer groups that drive those crowds every week. “Now when people come to Saddleback and see the giant crowds on weekends, they think that’s our success” Warren told the writer Charles Duhigg. “But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Ninety-five percent of this church is what happens during the week inside those small groups.” The reason that many transformational efforts fail is that they think it’s about getting masses of people to show up. Change consultants have promoted the myth that you need to start with a bang, with a big kickoff campaign that "creates a sense of urgency" about change. But consider this: Sociologist Everett Rogers' "S-curve" research estimated that it takes only 10%-25% of a system to adopt an innovation for rapid acceptance by the majority to follow. Professor Erica Chenoweth's analysis of over 300 political revolutions in the past century finds that it only took 3.5% of active participation in a society to succeed, and many campaigns prevailed with less. Recent research by sociologist Damon Centola at the University of Pennsylvania suggests that the tipping point for change is getting 25% of people in an organization on board. So if you only need a small minority, why bother trying to convince everyone? Why waste time and effort on people who hate your idea? You're much better off focusing on: SMALL GROUPS: It's much easier to build consensus among local majorities than an entire organization. LOOSE CONNECTIONS: Network science has established that it is the links in the network, far more than individual nodes that determines the propagation of a contagion. SHARED PURPOSE: Effective change leaders provide meaning to an endeavor that makes it more than merely a common enterprise, but a collective mission It is small groups, loosely connected, but united by a shared purpose that drives transformational change. When ideas are held by individuals or small groups, they are negligible. However, when groups connect and synchronize their collective behavior, they can become immensely powerful. An industry is remade, a country overthrown, the preceding order is transcended and the world is transformed. As leaders, it is our job to help these groups to connect and inspire them with purpose. As Shad Helmstetter once noted: "Each of us has 3 ‘resources’ which allow us to get through any given day. Those resources are our #time, our #energy, and our #minds (what and how we think)", so how are we using them? What are we actually thinking about ... most of the time, since this will become our reality? And how are we thinking - negatively, positively, optimistically, or are we a #pejorist? Where is our energy getting us, and how much is wasted? And as for time, are we planning as much as we should? This weekend is a good time to start thinking about how we can become more #productive, more enthused and more strategic. What are you going to do to increase your capabilities? ?? **A Thought-Provoking Reflection** ?? As we navigate through the ever-evolving landscape of modern business, one question continues to resound: what defines true success in today's world? - Is it the bottom line figures and profit margins that dictate our triumphs? - Or should we measure success by the positive impact we have on our communities and the environment? - Can we aspire to achieve both financial prosperity and social responsibility simultaneously? In the pursuit of greatness, it's imperative to pause and contemplate the essence of success, beyond mere numbers and statistics. - Let's challenge ourselves to redefine success as a harmonious blend of profitability and purpose. - By aligning our business goals with the greater good, we can create a sustainable legacy that transcends mere transactions. - Together, let's ignite a new era of success where prosperity and compassion coexist, shaping a brighter future for all. ? **What does success mean to you?** ? #Success #PurposeDriven #BusinessWithImpact
