You only have 3 more breaks until National Decision Day. That means you’ve got lots of ground to cover, literally! ?? Did you know that college tours are the **MOST underestimated part** of the college application process, and the 2nd biggest stress for parents after paying for college? Tours are NOT just about road trips, folks. It's about collecting *crucial* data that'll shape your entire college experience. ??? Here’s a fun fact: While everyone is busy Googling the top engineering programs, it’s more important to feel comfy and vibe with the place where you’ll be spending the next four years of your life. In other words, you're trying to find "your people," and where you'll be successful overall. Don’t just rely on rankings - you need to be there. ???? (Don't even get me started on rankings, they're completely made up and don't make sense half the time.) And please, virtual tours don’t cut it. Do you think it’s worth it to pursue a dream if it won’t lead you to traditional forms of success? ?? Randy is a 49 year-old fisherman who only got as far as 5th grade in school because he lives on a remote island with no electricity and a challenging way to the main town (where the public school is). When I met him in July, he was eagerly going through take-home study modules to earn his junior level of high school. When I shared Randy’s story with a friend, she asked: “Why is he studying? It’s not like he’s going to go quit his job as a fisherman and become a consultant!” As blunt as this comment may sound, there’s some truth to it. Randy is probably going to continue being a fisherman and perhaps achieving his dream of getting his high-school degree may not change his life drastically at this point. So, should he still do it? Staying organized during the?time of application season and the final year or two of?high school can be extremely challenging. Oftentimes?it can feel like a frantic and rushed race to the finish?line of November 1st, and then winter break, and then?the new year, and then finally admissions decisions.?We've got some tips for you to find ways to stay?organized while in this season. Good luck students! KEEP A CALENDAR ??? Keeping a calendar is a great way to stay on top of assignments, extracurriculars, as well as any outside commitments. It's a great habit to start before college! ORGANIZE YOUR WORKSPACE ?? Keeping an organized workspace can help you focus easier. With less clutter around you, it can make you feel put together and ready to work, rather than overwhelmed by the space. NOTE TAKE IN A WAY THAT FITS YOU?? When taking notes you know you'll review later, be sure you do so in a way that isn't confusing or illegible. By doing this, it can help ease the flow of studying. STAY CONSISTENT ?? Routine builds discipline. Even when you feel like taking a rest day or procrastinating, fall back into the routine you have set for yourself! As I was going through my old school records, I stumbled upon my Class 10th Co-Scholastic area report card. What a trip down memory lane! It reminded me of the importance of holistic development and how it has shaped my professional journey today. It's no secret that academic excellence is crucial, but let's not forget the value of co-curricular activities in building a well-rounded individual. From sports to music, drama to community service, these experiences have not only added depth to my character but have also honed my skills in teamwork, leadership, and time management.
