Gillis Consulting for Arts & Culture is pleased to have provided fundraising and communications support for the transformational Moody Family Children's Museum project, set to break ground at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in January 2025. The reimagined space, designed by Amsterdam-based NorthernLight in their first U.S. project, will double in size to 11,000 square feet and introduce innovative features including an expanded toddler area, creative makery, and interactive outdoor spaces. This pivotal project will enhance STEM education through play for children across North Texas and beyond when it opens in May 2025.

The National Gallery announced last week the programme and spaces on offer to all as part of the brand new Roden Centre for Creative Learning. The Centre is one of the largest dedicated gallery learning spaces in the UK, and we are delighted to support The Creative Space on the upper floor of the Centre, aimed at enabling sensory learning for everyone, with particular focus on special needs schools. Alongside The Creative Space will be the Welcome Space, the Clore Art Studio, and the Social Space. Open to the public on Friday 28th February, the Roden Centre for Creative Learning is the first part of the Gallery’s Bicentenary suite of capital projects to welcome visitors, programming free activities for children, families, schools and young people and both free and ticketed events and courses for adults. The transformed Centre will enable the National Gallery to engage with an additional 50,000 learners annually, resulting in 246,000 learners benefiting from the learning programme in total each year. Sir Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery, said: ‘We have understood the importance of an arts education for all for a very long time. What better time to be opening the doors to a creative learning centre, that prioritises inclusion and making our world class collection accessible to everyone, than when it is being given rightful prominence in the national conversation??We look forward to many people discovering the Gallery through The Roden Centre for Creative Learning for generations to come, and to being a part of many dialogues around the delights and benefits of an arts-enriched life. This morning, WISH-TV Daybreak anchor Jeremy Jenkins spoke with Dr. Aleesia Johnson, Ed.D. , superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools, about how the Rebuilding Stronger initiative is reshaping the district. This school year marks the first full implementation of Rebuilding Stronger, and just five months in, we're already seeing transformative results: ? 700 children are now receiving a high-quality Pre-K experience across the district, with easier access for families. ? Nearly 3,000 more elementary students are enrolled in STEM courses this year compared to last year. ? Every middle school student now has access to music and computer science programs. This week, our infant and toddler nature museum is all about trajectory play—a natural fascination with how objects move through space. Using our pumpkin rolling ramps, we’re encouraging little learners to explore movement, patterns, and cause-and-effect through hands-on discovery! ?? TRAJECTORY PLAY Children experiment with the motion of pumpkins, observing how they move down ramps, change direction, or stop. Watching and guiding rolling objects helps develop spatial reasoning and an understanding of forces. ?? DEVELOPING MOTOR SKILLS From pushing to guiding pumpkins, children refine hand-eye coordination and build strength in their little hands. ?? EXPLORING SPATIAL AWARENESS Where will the pumpkin go? How far? How fast? Trajectory play helps children grasp concepts like distance, angles, and speed. ?? COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT As they test ramps with different surfaces or inclines, children engage in problem-solving and trial-and-error learning, a foundation for scientific thinking. Extend the Fun! ??
