Next on my list of free applications to help developers build their breadth of knowledge is Pendo.io. There are a wealth of tools out there that product management teams can use to analyze how people are using their product to help them focus their roadmap into the niche their users want, and Pendo provides a fairly comprehensive list of tools to monitor and guide users towards their "ah ha" moment that can lead to a sale. https://lnkd.in/d6dAQh8U

The Tradeoff of Initial Speed vs. Flexibility: My Journey with Strapi Customization Sometimes, the simplest tasks turn into unexpectedly complex adventures. Recently, I needed to tune a Strapi application to ensure that a specific role, Manager, could only see and manage the stores they were attached to. On the surface, this seemed like a trivial requirement, something I could handle in a custom-developed application in just a few hours. But with Strapi as the backend, the journey turned out to be much more complicated. Strapi is great for quickly building powerful backend applications—it provides a lot out of the box. But what happens when you encounter a use case that’s just slightly outside the default functionality? That’s when the digging starts. Strapi’s documentation doesn’t cover such use cases in its guides. I had to sift through multiple forums, debug the internals, and finally write custom policies to get it working. This experience highlighted a larger tradeoff when using complex solutions like Strapi: - You save time upfront by leveraging its powerful, pre-built functionality for most use cases. - But when something doesn’t work out of the box, the time you saved can be lost to hours (or days!) of work figuring out how to extend or customize it. Strapi is still a fantastic tool—it gave me 90% of what I needed in no time. But it’s that last 10% that reminds you: "No tool is perfect for every use case." Would I use Strapi again? Absolutely. But next time, I’ll budget extra time for the inevitable "digging" phase. ?? Have you faced similar experiences with platforms or tools? I’d love to hear your stories!

Simplifying tech terms - #4 : Webhook ?? What’s a webhook? I think anyone involved in sales-tech has heard the word “webhook” and even might have wondered what’s that. So let’s start by explaining it in a slightly more technical way: ??A webhook is a way for one application to send real-time data to another whenever a specific event occurs. It uses HTTP requests to communicate between systems, allowing for immediate updates and actions without the need for constant polling. Now let’s explain it with an analogy to make it fully understandable for everyone. ??A webhook is like a doorbell for your house??. Imagine you’re waiting for a package delivery. Instead of checking your front door every few minutes, you set up a doorbell that rings whenever the delivery person arrives. So webhook is a way for one app to automatically send data to another when a specific event, called a “trigger”, happens. It sends information in real time, without needing to check for updates. That’s it. That’s what a webhook is. Simple and plain.

Kupala-Nich Platform Updates ( https://kupala-nich.com ) Thank you to everyone who’s shared feedback and offered encouragement along the way! It’s been a little while since my last update, so I wanted to share some recent progress on the Kupala-Nich platform, with new features focused on usability and analytical depth. Key Highlights: Financial Analytics Page: This page, designed with Excel power users in mind, enables users to explore fundamental, balance sheet, and cash flow data interactively. Run analyses directly within the grid, or harness PyCaret's AutoML for regression modeling and predictions. For instance, users can now train models to forecast company risk or spot outliers based on fundamental data. You’ll find more examples and detailed guidance in the page’s help section. Roadmap Priorities: I've outlined the roadmap for the next 3–6 months with a primary focus on transforming the application from a demo to a fully functional product where users can upload positions and outline trade ideas. Following this, I plan to introduce OTC product valuation and expanded research capabilities. You can explore the roadmap in the site’s About section. While I’m developing Kupala-Nich, I’m also exploring full-time or contract roles, which may adjust the platform timeline. Stay tuned! I’ll be providing more regular updates as I tackle technical challenges (like packaging PyCaret with Lambda) and roll out additional features.

Working on page speed and performance for a website? Try GTmetrix - their waterfall and performance monitoring make identifying issues quicker. It leverages the same lighthouse data from Chrome, which is industry standard, and details how to improve those metrics. It's also great if you don't know how to improve a site's performance but want to learn. I am not an affiliate, I like the tool.

Things I relearned this week: Price tells a story. I was talking to a recent Missive customer who had switched from our big VC-backed competitor in the space. They went from charging them $20/user/month to over $100/user/month in a year's time. That wasn't the pricing story though. The pricing story came when they reached Missive's Pricing page. They were looking to switch, and the price for their needs would've been $24/user/month. TAKE MY MONEY.gif, right? Nope. Instead, they pulled up the competitor's pricing page and did a side-by-side comparison to figure out WHY there was such a large difference in price. Because you see, we broke a cardinal rule. If something feels too good to be true, people assume it is. And they'll go searching for a rationalization. When they went line by line on the features chart, and couldn't figure it out based on the information they were given, they started imagining other possibilities: "Maybe their user experience isn't as intuitive." *face palm* The real reason for the price difference is because Missive doesn't want to price out small teams and businesses. We're a small team, we build for small teams, and we want to be accessible to small teams. But unless we say that somewhere explicitly (don't worry, we're working on it), people will come up with their own conclusions around our pricing. Price always tells a story. Make sure it's one that you want.

What’s the difference between evaluation and purchase signals from developers? Marketers often want downloads and signups to mean it’s time to sell devs. Usually, these are still evaluations, often early in that process. What’s the sign a dev is ready to buy?
