This past Friday, April 5th, our people3, Inc. Founder and CEO, Dr. Candace Warner, Ph.D. took the stage for a presentation at the inaugural Southeastern Diversity Conference (https://lnkd.in/ggRU6v6v), where attendees gathered to expand their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Dr. Warner shared insights on the evolving landscape of DEI in the workplace and the backlash against many corporate and higher education DEI efforts. In her presentation, Dr. Warner highlighted her journey in learning as a sociologist and inclusion consultant in the diversity, compliance, and inclusion space for over twenty years. Dr. Warner also presented case studies that highlight the tangible impacts of well-implemented DEI strategies on organizational culture and performance. In addition to her presentation, Dr. Warner joined a DEI Professional Panel with fellow DEI colleagues Dr. Linda Wiley Bing, PhD, CDE, CRS (she/her/hers), Founder/CEO of Turning Point Leadership Group, Maria Morukian, President, MSM Global Consulting, and moderated by Dr. Alexandria White, Ed.D., Senior VP of Reboot Accel, to discuss the challenges of navigating hard conversations on identity, empathy, and the multifaceted nature of generational diversity and bias in the workplace. Attendees were inspired and reinvigorated by luminaries such as best-selling author and speaker, Stedman Graham, and Chairman/CEO of Stedman Graham & Associates, as well as, Chris Womack, Chairman and CEO of Southern Company, whose insights underscored the conference's pivotal role in shaping the future of DEI. People3 is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this vital conversation. Many thanks to Wesley Wells, Tori Bishop, and Dr. Alexandria White, Ed.D. for their fantastic efforts in creating such an amazing space for all of us who want to advance the work of expanding diversity, ensuring equity, and fostering inclusion–no matter what we call it–now or in the future. #people3 #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #DEIstrategy #InclusiveCultures #SODLC24

A recent BYP Network newsletter has sparked some important reflections on the state of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in our workplaces and institutions. It's concerning to see some organisations scaling back or eliminating their DEI efforts. This trend is more than just a localised issue – it has the potential to impact progress on a much broader scale, echoing Dr. King's timeless wisdom about the interconnected-ness of justice. As leaders, we have a responsibility to not only maintain but strengthen our commitment to fostering inclusive environments where all talent can thrive. It's not just ethically right—it's essential for innovation, growth, and long-term success in our increasingly diverse world. I'm curious: How is your organisation prioritising DEI? What challenges are you facing, and what successes have you seen? In my work with clients, I've found that building empathy is key to creating truly inclusive workplaces. It's about understanding the unique experiences and challenges faced by underrepresented professionals. This understanding is crucial for attracting, retaining, and developing diverse talent effectively. Let's continue to champion DEI efforts, even—especially—when they face opposition. The future of our workplaces and our society depends on it. #DiversityAndInclusion #LeadershipDevelopment #WorkplaceCulture #EmpathyInAction #BlackHistoryMonth

?? Transforming Our Mindset on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ?? In our journey towards creating more inclusive workplaces, it's essential to change how we view challenges. Instead of seeing them as insurmountable barriers, we must recognize them as hurdles—obstacles that can be overcome with effort and skill. Thanks to CREW Pittsburgh for inspiring this post! ??♂? Hurdles: These challenges, such as unconscious biases, limited awareness, and outdated practices, can be addressed through dedicated effort and strategic action. Overcoming these hurdles is crucial for meaningful progress in DEI. ?? Teamwork Analogy: Consider a football team aiming for the Super Bowl. The Steelers, for example, need a diverse team to win—they can’t succeed with only offensive linemen. Each player's unique skills and roles are essential for victory. The same concept applies to your industry. A diverse team brings a variety of perspectives, driving innovation and success. ?? Mindset Shift: Identify Hurdles: The first step is recognizing and acknowledging the hurdles in our DEI efforts. This involves examining our policies, practices, and cultural norms to pinpoint areas for improvement. Equip Ourselves: Arm ourselves with the knowledge and tools needed to tackle these hurdles. Embrace continuous learning, seek diverse perspectives, and commit to both personal and organizational growth. Collective Effort: DEI is everyone’s responsibility. It’s not just a task for leadership but a collective commitment. Engage in meaningful conversations, support inclusive initiatives, and hold each other accountable. ?? Why It Matters: Embracing DEI isn’t just about fairness—it drives innovation, improves decision-making, and reflects the diverse world we live in. By changing our mindset and actively working to overcome hurdles, we create environments where everyone can thrive. Let's commit to transforming our approach to DEI from mere compliance to genuine commitment. Together, we can build workplaces where diversity is celebrated, equity is the norm, and inclusion is the culture. #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #DEI #MindsetShift #WorkplaceInclusion #Innovation #Leadership #CollectiveResponsibility #InclusiveWorkplace

?? Building on the Foundations of DEI: Actionable Steps for Sustainable Impact ?? In our previous discussion, we highlighted the critical role of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in creating resilient and innovative workplaces. Now, let’s dive deeper into actionable strategies that organizations can implement to foster sustainable DEI initiatives. ?? Structured Mentorship Programs: Mentorship bridges gaps by providing support and guidance, especially to underrepresented groups. Establishing structured programs ensures that all employees have access to growth opportunities and career advancement. ?? Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): ERGs create safe spaces for employees to connect, share experiences, and advocate for their needs. These groups play a pivotal role in driving cultural change and fostering a sense of belonging within the organization. ?? Transparent Reporting and Accountability: Regularly tracking and publicly sharing DEI metrics promotes transparency and accountability. Setting clear goals and measuring progress keeps the organization committed to continuous improvement. ?? Inclusive Leadership Development: Training leaders on inclusive practices equips them to better support their teams. Inclusive leadership fosters a culture of respect and empowerment, where every voice is heard and valued. ?? Collaborative Policy Making: Involving diverse voices in policy development ensures that company policies reflect the needs and perspectives of all employees. This collaborative approach leads to more equitable and inclusive outcomes. ?? Community Engagement and Partnerships: Building partnerships with community organizations and participating in local initiatives amplifies the impact of DEI efforts. Engaging with the broader community helps drive social change and promotes a more inclusive society. The journey towards true diversity, equity, and inclusion is ongoing and requires commitment at all levels of the organization. By taking these actionable steps, companies can not only enhance their workplace culture but also contribute to broader societal progress. Let’s continue to champion DEI and create lasting, positive change. Together, we can build a more inclusive and sustainable future for everyone. #DEI #Inclusion #Diversity #Equity #Sustainability #BusinessInnovation #WorkplaceCulture #SocialImpact #GreenVisionAlliance

DEI and workplaces! Studies show organizations with strong DEI initiatives are more innovative, adaptive, and profitable. Organizations prioritizing DEI are building better workplaces AND driving better results. The findings in this Harvard Business School article are a case in point: https://lnkd.in/gnenn2wQ It talks about the need for thought and policies around DEI and how to go about implementing them. But DEI is more than just policy, it is fostering a genuine sense of belonging. Some questions the article suggests we ask: ? 1. Are our systems fair? 2.?Do our teams reflect the world we live in? 3.?Are we listening, learning, and evolving? #HarvardBusinessReview #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #Workplace #Culture #ThePeopleOrder . . . How diverse is your organization? ? How inclusive is your organization? ? How committed is your organization to nurturing a culture of diversity and inclusion? ? Do you believe in the financial benefits of an authentic culture of diversity, equity and inclusion? ? Daily Shake Up No. 945 highlights three things related to cultures of diversity, equity and inclusion: 1.????The financial benefits of having an authentic culture of diversity, equity and inclusion; 2.????The importance of authentically embracing a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (versus checking a box with a DEI policy); 3.????The reality of resistance to authentically embracing and nurturing cultures of diversity, equity and inclusion. There’s mountains of evidence that diverse and inclusive workplaces win, but there’s diminishing numbers of organizations committed to building diverse and inclusive workplaces. What’s the miss? If we know DEI wins, then why are we choosing to lose by not committing to DEI? Is it too hard? Is it too uncomfortable? Is it too different? Is it too controversial? Is it too innovative? My guess is we all know that innovation wins in business, and diversity, equity and inclusion is the innovation with the greatest ROI (financial, personal, relational and cultural). Impactful leadership is about embracing the discomfort in order to innovate, especially when it comes to your people, and diversity, equity and inclusion is the pot of gold of innovation. #SnowGlobeLeadership #NischwitzGroup #SnowGlobeLiving #Leadership #DEI #Diversity #Inclusion #Culture

?????? ??????/????????-?????? ?????????? & ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ?????? ???? ?????? I've worked on crafting a human-centric version of DEI work for the last 6 years.
