What does it take to recommend an early stage VC like Blume Ventures a startup investment? Yesterday, a few of us at Mesa School of Business got the chance to visit the Blume Villa to pitch why a particular startup is the right investment for Blume now. Here's a few learnings I gathered from the students who visited: 1. Founder market fit is the most critical aspect for early stage investors 2. For Blume, the selection priority is Team. TAM. Timing. Traction - in that order 3. The pitch is just as important as the product. A good pitch can carry and average product, a poor pitch can reduce the appeal of a good product This was a great opportunity provided to us by Mesa School of Business

I've been really impressed with Airtree's Explorer program so far. Some insightful points from today's session: ? The "Power Law" is real ???? Australia punches above our weight for return on angel/VC capital ?? Seeing behind the scenes of real cap tables is must for "angels in training" ?? ~20% of seed invested companies will successfully raise a Series A round ?? < 3% of seed invested companies will successfully raise a Series C round ?? New angels should think though a budget for an initial (~10 company) portfolio, which will allow you to calculate your average check size ?? Keep a reserve of capital to double down on your "winners" ??
