On Saturday, I powered on the purple suit to film new creative. Because team Fintech Is Femme is gearing up for the marketing campaign for the launch of my debut book: Fintech Feminists: Increasing Inclusion, Redefining Innovation, and Changing the Future for Women Around the World Then, on Sunday, I saw the notification that Kamala Harris is Joe Biden's pick for the presidential race. It was historic. It gave me a similar feeling I had when I read and wrote my book: Hope. Hope that the world will *finally* see what I see -- that when women lead, everyone wins. I then began to see the synergy: My book is a physical representation that we lift everyone when we lift women (in this case, 40 profiles on trailblazing women in #fintech). And now, we have to use our power to rally behind Kamala Harris. I want to use my book as a tool to do this: to take action, organize, and show that there is hope for our financial system, the fintech industry, and our country when women are at the helm. I'll cover what a potential Harris presidency will mean for the future of?#fintech?and use my platform to showcase women in fintech who are pledging their support. Are you one of them? In Europe more and more women are successfully populating the finance and finch landscape and not just in compliance, HR or audit departments but also as business development strategists. One of them is Joanna Pamphilis, the Chief Digital & Information Officer at UniCredit, with over 20 years of experience in financial services, M&A, and consulting. Having worked with State Street, KCG, UBS and Northern Trust, she is known fo transformational leadershipwitha focus on finch and digital transformation across the financial sector. she recently called to action on gender parity. Despite the immense amount of progress modern society has achieved over a century the “pace of change is not enough”, Joanna Pamphilis recently said in her role as global head of investments and securities digital products at https://buff.ly/3WAURka Girls in ICT Day is an important date in Pamphilis’s calendar, raising awareness about the gender gap in tech and fintech. “We are seeing an equal demand in risk, in compliance, and in legal,” says Pamphilis: digital skills are needed for presentations, for communication and “for life”. Acting as a role model for women in the industry and acting as a mentor — both formally and informally — is close to her heart. these examples show it is possible we do have such great role models around us. we just need to ACT and get inspired by them. One fact stood out to me, and I have to share it: “According to a survey by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) in 2021, the rate of women starting businesses saw a noticeable increase during the pandemic. In the U.S., the percentage of women who became new entrepreneurs jumped from 27% in 2019 to about 37% in 2020. Did you know that ‘Today, women make up nearly half of all small business owners in the US’?” Nicole consistently provides just the right amount of information, keeping us motivated and informed. I've heard about the gap in funding for women-led companies, and the gap in leadership positions. The “Exit Gap”?was new to me, though. And sadly, not surprising. From Fem-Led News: There's a significant disparity in the sale of women-founded businesses, which are valued 30% lower on average than male-founded ones, with less than 1% of sold businesses being female-founded. https://lnkd.in/e9RgEi2h
