Another year in the books for the DPRCG Convocation! Some top leaders in the design profession came together in Atlanta to discuss risk management and resilience. Originally set for Asheville, NC, but Hurricane Helene had other plans. Our hearts go out to the communities affected by the hurricane, and our prayers remain with all the residents and businesses as they recover. #DPRCG2024 #RiskManagement #PCIA #Insurance #professionalliability #certified

National Director of Business Development at Belfor Property Restoration [email protected]
After #RiskWorld2024, I listened to brokers, carriers, and clients about the future of property risk. Increased capacity is helping the market, and we're seeing some rate relief, but storms (and aggressive underwriting) persist. We’re currently monitoring Hurricane Helene getting ready to hit Florida Modern risk management requires disaster preparedness partners for immediate response - property insurance alone isn't enough. Proactive plans are crucial to minimizing interruption costs. As storms continue to challenge aging infrastructure, BELFOR is here to help you stay ready and recover immediately. Let us take some of that risk off your plate.

??? Hurricane Milton Could Cost Insurers 55 Billion €. Hurricane Milton did have a heavy impact for the Florida's Gulf Coast, leaving behind an estimated insurance loss of up to 55 billion euros. This Category 5 storm, one of the most destructive in recent history, mirrors the impact of Hurricane Ian in 2022 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. As insurers brace for significant losses, reinsurance rates are expected to spike, reflecting the growing costs of climate-related events. Though the industry is better prepared, with improved reinsurance contracts and stronger financial reserves, the financial fallout will likely reshape risk strategies and pricing models. ?? Implications for the policyholders are that there will be - Higher Premiums , Tightened Terms, Local Market Volatility and need for Increased Risk Diversification. This event underscores the urgent need for innovative risk management solutions and long-term strategies to mitigate the impact of climate-related catastrophes. The biggest #challenge in this storm seems to been the high and extreme winds caused by the it??. #HurricaneMilton #Insurance #Reinsurance #RiskManagement #ClimateChange #InsuranceIndustry #Florida #localrisksglobalinsured #insuranceinnovation #consulting #adobe #firefly

Hurricane Andrew's $27.3 billion (equivalent to $61 billion in 2024) loss event sent shockwaves through the insurance industry that continue to resonate today. The storm exposed critical vulnerabilities in existing risk models and demonstrated conclusively that flat-rate deductibles were inadequate for catastrophic events. ?? Perhaps most importantly, it revealed dangerous concentration risks in carrier portfolios that had previously gone unrecognized. The resulting wave of insolvencies reshaped market dynamics and catalyzed the development of modern catastrophe modeling. Carriers that survived emerged with a new appreciation for the importance of sophisticated risk management tools and properly structured deductibles. ?? Data is useless without the application of it to your processes. Five P&C insurers have been fined in recent weeks by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation for failing to properly handle claims after Hurricane Ian. Last week I spoke at the McKenzie Intelligence Services breakfast briefing on how insurers can take control of catastrophe claims processes through technology and data, and most specifically, the application and action on that data. During the briefing I launched the concept of First Notification of Incident (FNOI), and how insurers can utilise data to be proactive with claims processes, to have answers ready for when First Notification of Loss happens, and to delight their policyholders. Read our case study on Hurricane Ian and reach out if you want to know how you can implement FNOI. https://lnkd.in/e9mT-HaJ
