?? Exciting News in Food Tech! ??
I'm thrilled to share that Voyage Foods is expanding its cocoa-free chocolate production with a brand-new facility in Ohio! This state-of-the-art plant, spanning a massive 284,000 sq ft in Mason, is a significant milestone for the company and is expected to be operational by the new year.
The global cocoa production is forecasted to decline by 11% for the 2023-2024 period, which presents a strategic advantage for Voyage Foods. By leveraging this new facility, which boasts an annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of chocolate, Voyage is well-positioned to meet the growing demand from manufacturers and the foodservice industry. This expansion follows their partnership with agri-food giant Cargill, marking a considerable boost in their distribution capabilities.
Voyage Foods' innovative products, such as their Peanut-Free Roasted Seed Spread and Hazelnut-Free Roasted Seed Spread, cater to the allergen-free market and are made from upcycled plant-based ingredients. With over $94m in investor backing and significant support from the USDA, this expansion underscores the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the food industry.

3 个月Oddly perhaps, my wife and I are among those who do value the ingredients upgrade at Beyond and the fact they are not soy-based which we both have issues with (digestively). So my hope is that Beyond is focusing on margin growth, customer retention and excellent QC to develop a smaller but perhaps fiercely loyal customer base. Heavy users are the heart of the category and price only drives trial but not retention / loyalty. I see Impossible for half the price of Beyond all the time, but it’s mediocre product. It’s likely the future of the category lies in heavy, frequent users who are not price sensitive, but as always, I could be wrong. And retailers will happily take one $10 item through the register at full margin than two $5 items at promo margin any day of the week.
