I am delighted to have participated in a knowledge-sharing session organized by the Alamtara team, presenting the esteemed guest speaker, Ustaad Dr. Abdinur Ali Mohamed, PhD. The session provided me with valuable insights into effective income management and strategies for enhancing personal financial growth. One key takeaway was the importance of managing expenses to achieve financial independence. Dr. Abdinur introduced practical rules to help make more thoughtful financial decisions: 1. 72-Hour Rule: Many purchases are driven by impulse. To curb this, implement the 72-hour rule: wait 72 hours before making a purchase. If you still feel the need for it after that period, go ahead. 2. 1-3-5 Rule: For items under $100, wait a day before purchasing. For items between $100 and $500, wait three days. If it’s over $500, give yourself five days to decide. Applying these principles encourages prudent decision-making and fosters financial independence. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) launched the eSankhyiki Portal, designed to enhance data accessibility and user experience. This portal features two modules: the Data Catalogue, offering access to over 2291 datasets, and the Macro Indicators, providing time series data of key economic indicators. Launched on Statistics Day by Dr. Arvind Panagariya, the portal supports evidence-based decision-making and can be accessed via MoSPI’s website. The week that is: Tuesday 13.08.2024 I had another opportunity to facilitate yet another "high level partnership round table for last mile Delivery" with Senior representatives from the African Agricultural Research, Innovation and Education Institutes (AAIEIs) as well as International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and TAAT. The AAIEIs comprise of FARA, CCARDESA (and similar Sub regional organisation) , AFAAS and RUFORUM.. The purpose of this high level round table was to discuss implementation of action plan and formalize the partnership among AARIEIs and with One CGIAR. This was yet another successfully executed task. The extract from CCARDESA articulates the outcome of the meeting nicely. Such opportunities to design, lead and facilitate a wide range of meetings with the different stakeholders along the PERFECT continuum give me that bird eye view than one needs to see the bigger picture of the broader AgriFood Systems. It provides me with 'a path into the minds of the different groups of stakeholders' increase my understanding of the different complex issues and be in better position to connect the dots and ask the right questions.
