After attending the ISEAL Global Sustainability Symposium and the Community Workshop last week in Switzerland, the value of being a Community Member was patently clear. Both events were super well organised, and it was great to meet ISEALS growing team of smart, dedicated and supportive individuals. Among all the topics discussed at the Symposium was the growing list of due diligence regulations across the globe (see their summary here: https://lnkd.in/dFWrYFGb) and how certification schemes respond to these. My feeling is due diligence certification actually has a strong role to play in supporting compliance (or alignment) with these regulations, and adds value for certified entities and other stakeholders, in a number of different ways. Of course, its the case that certification systems are rarely provided a green lane (probably a good thing). But credible due diligence certification still lends itself well as a model to help clarify what robust, quality due diligence looks like in practice. #DueDiligence

?? Inspiring Session at WWF - Pakistan: During my internship at WWF - Pakistan , I had the incredible opportunity to listen to Kashaf Akhtar , the inspiring founder of Eco Bricks Pakistan. Her journey from starting at zero to becoming a successful entrepreneur was nothing short of motivational. Kashaf shared how her determination and innovative approach in tackling plastic pollution led to the creation of Eco Bricks, turning waste into a valuable resource. Her story reminded us that greatness often begins with small, humble steps. As we work towards creating a plastic-free community, her words echo in my mind: "To achieve the best, you need to start from zero." It was great to work with Abdelrahman Osama ElSherif "AB" and Agthia Group PJSC, We had an incredible day guiding their team through the Celemi Sustainability Simulation, helping them connect the dots on how sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's woven into every aspect of their business. From operations to customer impact, the simulation brought to life the real-world challenges and opportunities around sustainability. Personally for me, what made the day even more powerful was seeing the lightbulb moments as their leaders realized the influence they have, not just in aligning with the company's sustainability goals but in driving them forward through everyday decisions. It’s clear that sustainability is not a one-size-fits-all concept. These leaders left the room with actionable insights on how they can contribute to their company’s sustainability strategy, embedding sustainable thinking into their own roles and departments. I was joined by three inspiring panellists who are all pushing boundaries and driving impactful change around accessibility and inclusion in sustainability: ?? AMPLIFY DIVERSE VOICES. White wealthy individuals still own the narrative within the sustainability sector, so in order to build a sustainable future for us all, we need to champion and amplify diverse voices. ?? FUND UNDERREPRESENTED INNOVATORS. If you’re not a white wealthy innovator, you have to work much harder to get your initiative resourced and scaled, mainly due to bias in the sector. When these initiatives are properly resourced, they have the power to make impactful sustainable changes for communities globally. ?? COLLABORATION IS KEY. Working with a diverse range of individuals and communities provides us with wider pools of knowledge and more innovative solutions when tackling the climate crisis and building a sustainable future for everyone. Thursday: Join us for a Sustainability Summit featuring updates from the Green Action Fund and Office of Sustainability, a resource fair, and roundtable discussions on making progress on the UCCS Sustainability Strategic Plan. It's Sustainable Development Week, a chance to take a world tour of the Elis Group's actions! The unique and memorable experience of attending the first ReGen Friends Summit in San Francisco just 5 years ago continues to resonate with me to this day. I fondly recall the enriching discussions and the opportunity to share insights alongside esteemed individuals such as Meg Adelman, RN, BSN, MPH of Navitas Organics, Chris Hortinela of Vitamin Angels, and Susanne Stormer who was with Novo Nordisk at the time. The thought-provoking panel was just the beginning, as the Summit also provided the privilege of listening to the remarkable perspectives of Doniga Markegard from Markegard Family Grass-Fed Family Farm and Vincent Stanley from Patagonia, among many other inspiring figures. This captivating event truly reinforced the prevailing significance of sustainability and regenerative business practices in our current landscape. I am especially grateful to Nils-Michael Langenborg, gMBA and Emily M. Olson, MBA Sustainable Enterprise for their exemplary leadership and dedication in spearheading the inaugural Summit. The ReGen Friends Summit served as a springboard for innovative collaborations and forward-thinking initiatives that have left a mark on the landscape of sustainable business. This resonates with our initial sentiment from the Summit, which still holds true today — sustainability and regenerative business practices are undeniably on the rise, and it is heartening to witness this positive evolution. The memories and insights gathered during that event have contributed to the founding of BGoodPartners, infusing every aspect of the firm with a spirit of dedication to creating positive change in the world.
