On a daily basis I am speaking to leaders at companies across a variety of industries and it's pretty interesting to see the dynamic at play. There are companies that are booming and busier than ever and on the flip side, there are companies/industries truly struggling right now. From my one small corner of the world here's what I have seen: Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Logistics have all been in a rough spot this year. Energy, Insurance, Data Centers, and Professional Services (Engineering & Architecture) seem to be doing well. Certain sectors like Healthcare & Tech seemed to be a mixed bag. Also, there is a lot of talent at PE-backed companies that were expecting a transaction by now and getting a nice payday who are seeing the "can" being kicked down the road due to the slowdown in transactions with no transaction in sight. I am starting to hear a lot more folks feeling optimistic about the rest of 2024 and 2025. What are you seeing and hearing in your corner of the world? What a downside / upside month we had in February. ?? Downside ·??????We were all knocked out by the office lurgy in mid-February and took us a while to recover. After downing 5 gallons of Beecham’s each, we were soon all back on our feet. Upside ?? ·??????644 sales hit – 26% month on month growth. ·??????£17m card turnover processed – 42% month on month growth. ·??????Launched CreatePay rewards – feedback from our customer base has been fantastic. ·??????Exited the month with 4 packs of unopened pickled onion monster munch in the office .?This is a new record, and unheard of in CreatePay. Echoing AJs message here as it resonates- I'm hearing these sentiments from the QSR, and Convenience Management I speak to daily- Sprockets is one of those solutions making significant impact.
At Disrupt, I spoke about losing momentum. In '21, employers would do anything to get people back to work. We saw unprecedented high wages, sign-on bonuses, health insurance programs, and other benefits for the first time in the hourly workforce. Hourly workers thrived. In '24, as the labor market"normalizes", we as an industry are unfortunately falling back to old patterns. Business pressures, inflation, and shifts in consumer spending are making it harder to offer best-in-class programs to every employee... and sadly the hourly workers are oftentimes the first to feel the impacts. The good news?
