Friday Thoughts: FutureNet World 2024. I have seen many excellently written reviews and lists of topics covered and still open, and wanted to take a higher level view of where we're at. The Flowchart below shows how the CSP AI Narrative has progressed during the past 12 months. From Customer Care/Chatbot, to AI Guided Troubleshooting (which were heavily covered at MWC24) and now Network Automation was the key theme at FNW2024. The consensus is that once AI has delivered on all these cost reductions, we are will then see CSPs and OEMs talking up New Revenue generating Customer-Targeted AI Applications. ROI being seen in the second half of the decade as Howard Watson stated in the Opening Panel of this year's event. #Telecommunications #AI #NetworkAutomation ?

Earlier this week I had the privilege of joining a #MWC24 GSMA panel discussion together with Adam Loddeke, Lilac Ilan, Jitin Bhandari and Christopher Smith for an engaging discussion on the future of #AI-powered networks. I really enjoyed the discussion where we dived into the challenges and opportunities with the transformation, and how this extends beyond technology, emphasizing the critical importance of building competence and trust in AI-driven innovations. We also talked about how AI is already used today, where Adam shared some concrete examples how AT&T are using AI to optimize performance and improve operations. We recently announced the integration of Explainable AI into our solutions, which is an important step towards enabling network design and optimization teams to comprehend the root causes of issues and recommended actions.
