Founded in 1976 by Pentti Heinonen, Junttan quickly emerged as an innovator in the industry, building upon the legacy of Savon Varvi, a Finnish foundation company established in the 1960s.

- The first machine made by Junttan (formerly Savon Varvi) was an excavator.
- The name was changed to Junttan, as 'Savon Varvi' was considered difficult to pronounce internationally. This decision, according to the founder, Pentti Heinonen, was made within 5 minutes during a company meeting.
- The 1990s were difficult times due to the crisis in European countries. It was harder to sell new equipment. At that time, Junttan started exploring the Asian market.
- Up to date, Junttan has more than 230 employees.
- The head office of Junttan is in Kuopio, Finland. Now Junttan has six frontline companies in different countries, including the USA, Canada, and the UK.

1979: Development of their first hydraulic piling rig – a game-changer in the industry.
1983: Launch of the iconic PM20 model range, setting a new standard for performance.
1984: The first Junttan rigs were sold outside Finland to neighboring Sweden and Denmark.
1993: New HHK A series of hydraulic hammers launched.
2007: Manufactured the 1000th hydraulic hammer. In 2008, the 500th piling rig was manufactured.
2010: Introduced the PMx pile driving rig series and the SHARK hydraulic hammer concept.
2021: Launch of the world’s first fully battery-powered electric pile driving rig, PMx2e.
2023: Expanded their product line with the introduction of Junttan vibratory hammers.
