Earlier this month we were glad to present our tracked robotic platforms to a broad audience at #DefenceInnovationPitchDay in Munich. It is crucial for us that our products are made in Europe and that we are thus contributing to technical sovereignty and the protection of free Europe. Our platforms can be used for a broad variety of civil and defence use cases including the evacuation of wounded soldiers and the transport of payloads to the frontlines. With a self-weight of 70 to 80kg and payload capacities of 120 to 200kg our platforms belong to the lower and medium segments of the market for tracked platforms and feature a self-weight to payload ratio that is to our knowledge unachieved so far. Given that we understand ourselves as provider of European platforms in a market otherwise dominated by East-Asian suppliers, we attach great care to ensuring that our products are fully interoperable with further systems.

Patria participates in NDIS 2024 conference and exhibition on 17 – 19 September at Sundvolden, Norway. The event is arranged by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, The Norwegian Armed Forces and the Norwegian Defence and Security Industries Association, FSi. NDIS is organized within the framework of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO). At the event Patria exhibits its vehicles involved in multinational collaboration programmes FAMOUS (Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured System). The new protected tracked vehicle system provides overwhelming tactical and operational mobility in the most demanding weather, soft soil and extreme harsh terrain conditions. This new tracked vehicle will be a breakthrough; a modern cost-effective alternative for traditionally articulated vehicles and light tracked vehicles. Patria stand location is D103. Improving the mobility and performance of land troops is a major priority in the long-term development of defence in the EU countries. To meet these needs, the joint European Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured Systems (FAMOUS) programme is developing the technologies, performance and ground combat capabilities of future armoured vehicles. The FAMOUS programme optimizes synergies, standardization, commonalities, innovative technologies, and interoperability capabilities in All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) and an upgrade to Main Battle Tank (MTB) capabilities. The technologies being developed in FAMOUS programme are related to, for example, mobility, energy production, protection, improved situational awareness, autonomy, weapons system development, C4I and improved maintainability. Finland is the lead nation and Patria is the industrial coordinator. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/g8tdRG95

Why would a tech entrepreneur who’s set up three software companies not have a smartphone? It’s a question I’ve wondered a lot when spending time with our CEO Andy Beverley, who’s written this fantastic blog. Andy has always been passionate about technology - he cut his teeth as an engineering officer in the Royal Navy for a decade, running the IT for three years on the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious. Andy’s always been an early adopter of technology, but he now uses an old Nokia for calls and texts, and a laptop for work. This blog goes a long way to explaining why. In the military, Andy did all his work in an office, and learnt to be very efficient. He asks if working that way was better for efficiency than the more flexible working that we have today … to be discussed!

Indian sources report that the Su-75 Checkmate?will be showcased at India’s Aero India 2025 exhibition, with Sukhoi offering India the exclusive rights to manufacture the Su-75 domestically. Sources indicate that the Sukhoi Design Bureau’s representatives in India have sweetened the deal with a potential technology transfer [ToT]. Russian officials tout the Su-75 Checkmate as a highly cost-effective solution for nations seeking stealth fighter?capabilities without the hefty price tag usually associated with 5th-generation aircraft. Russia maintains that the fighter jet’s unit cost will be between $30 million and $35 million. The Sukhoi Su-75 “Checkmate” is touted by Russia as a fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter. It boasts impressive capabilities, including a top speed of Mach 1.8, a range of up to 3,000 km [1,864 miles], and an operational ceiling of 16,500 meters [54,100 feet]. Check out our latest article for Military Systems and Technology, which outlines significant advancements in armored vehicle technology. G&H collaborated with Rheinmetall Electronics UK (REUK) to enhance the Challenger 3 tank for the British Army with a state-of-the-art Embedded Image Periscope (EIP). Our integrated sighting system improves reconnaissance, surveillance, driver safety, and target acquisition. The customized EIP, featuring both glass and digital display technology, allows drivers a broader field of view with minimal effort and includes day and night modes as well as biocular for eye relief, adapting to different battlefield conditions. Newly appointed Chair of the R&D Council, Pete Kean, commented, “In the event that a vehicle loses all its power, you can’t use your displays or your situational awareness cameras that feed into this system. But the driver still needs to be able to see, to exit the threat in the environment. Through this system, a combined glass and electronic periscope, with the flick of a switch, you are just looking out of a glass periscope. So, in that ultra-threat scenario, you just flick the switch and drive.” This system, crucial in scenarios where vehicles might lose power, ensures continuity of vision through a simple switch to a glass periscope. Additionally, the EIP is designed to integrate seamlessly with digital systems like the Spectre camera system, enhancing the vehicle's operational capabilities and communication. The new EIP represents a leap in technology and integration, fitting the UK's vision for a highly capable and robust future armored vehicle. ?? Estonian national broadcaster ERR ran a story saying PowerUP can charge drones of defence forces. Defence forces need to replace their fossil-fuel-based generators, and plan to continue testing and analysing the uptake of #hydrogengenerators in the units. "We want to send the first generators to Ukraine for tests, but we also have to solve the problem of the supply of hydrogen to the frontline," said Ivar Kruusenberg. ?? Eesti Rahvusringh??ling
