On International Cancer Day, Roche stands at the forefront of a global mission – a collective commitment to #ClosingTheCareGap in #CancerCare. World Health Organization estimates that cancer leads to nearly 459,000 deaths each year in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Over the past five years, around 1.6 million people in the region have faced this ongoing challenge. It places a heavy burden, both physically and emotionally, on individuals, families, and communities. Annually, approximately 734,000 individuals receive a cancer diagnosis, and by 2040, it's expected that this number will rise by about 50%*. As part of our mission, we recognize the crucial role a holistic care approach plays in bridging the gap for individuals living with cancer. We must take into account a range of aspects that contribute to a patient's well-being, including mental health, spiritual needs, and overall quality of life. Through this approach, we aim to ensure that every cancer patient is met with personalized care that extends beyond medical aspects to enhance their overall well-being. In Egypt, Roche’s collaboration with the Egyptian Government on a Breast Cancer presidential initiative was created through a shared vision to ensure equal access to the highest global standard of care regardless of social status. Roche provided support for early detection through screening and diagnosis, building laboratory capability and capacity and establishing Multi-Disciplinary Teams for better patient management. Over a three-year period, the collaboration led to more than 29 million women screened with a 50% decrease in advanced stage breast cancer. Furthermore, we've signed an MOU to collaborate with the Qatar Foundation focusing on enhancing the country's capabilities for personalized healthcare. We are actively supporting the capacity building of the Qatar Cancer Society by conducting awareness campaigns on personalized care. And we're assisting in developing their expertise in innovation and design thinking while aiding in processing patients' financial support requests. In Saudi Arabia, we are working with King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center to develop the capabilities and infrastructure to carry out advanced testing for patients living with cancer, including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Comprehensive Genomic Profiling (CGP). This testing is a vital step towards enabling more personalized approaches to cancer treatment. I personally believe that achieving progress in cancer care is a shared responsibility among multiple stakeholders. Therefore, we must engage in joint efforts to continue to address the challenges. We are commited to fostering innovative solutions and inclusive approaches aimed at improving the accessibility, effectiveness, and equality of cancer care for patients. #AccessToInnovation #accesstohealthcare * https://lnkd.in/dMjaRnG2

Barriers to #access are complex and far-reaching, and every country faces its own unique challenges. At Roche, we are committed to a world where access to quality cancer care is equal for all. As the inspiring examples in this video show, meaningful, sustainable and systemic change is possible. The catalyst for positive change lies in multi-stakeholder partnerships where governments, organisations, healthcare professionals and communities unite behind a common goal. Together with our partners, Roche is proud to have helped establish: - A systematic screening programme to drive earlier diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer in the Philippines, where 11 women die every day of the disease. - Specialist oncology nurse education and training in Indonesia to foster patient-centred care. With the involvement of over 50 partners, the programme has now tripled its reach, leading to a more specialised workforce and improved patient outcomes. - Sustainable financing solutions for and investment in cancer care resulting in many more patients receiving the diagnosis and treatment they need, regardless of economic status, including a new cost-sharing model in Nigeria and support for Georgia’s Universal Health Programme for Oncology. Rooted in partnership and collaboration, each of these initiatives offer hope. At Roche, we remain committed to doing all we can to help #CloseTheCareGap in cancer care and bring about lasting change. #worldcancerday Learn more: https://lnkd.in/d8-D2hSF Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Roche (Philippines) Inc. To #CloseTheCareGap in cancer and make access to quality care a reality for everyone who needs it, we’re going to need inspiration, collaboration and determination. This World Cancer Day I’m taking inspiration from the innovative approaches that are being developed, tested and scaled up around the world to tackle some of the biggest challenges in delivering quality care today and in the future. Thank you to J?rg-Michael Rupp for sharing some great examples of how Roche is working with our partners to solve problems and find meaningful solutions to make the future of cancer care better. I’m especially inspired by the partnership between Roche in Denmark and BETA.HEALTH, a national platform accelerating innovation across all hospitals in Denmark. Together, they took action to improve people’s health and bring forward solutions to solve for major system challenges. This partnership is a true example of co-creation, addressing the challenges of the Danish healthcare system and calling for action in the ecosystem, across companies, start-ups and research institutes to develop solutions that tangibly improve patients' lives. The winning solution was supported through funding and mentoring by Roche Danmark The project is designed for scale across Denmark, Germany and Poland and allows cancer patients to do a blood test in the comfort of their own homes. This reduces the need for frequent hospital visits and frees up valuable clinical resources, ultimately improving the capacity of the healthcare system. I am amazed by the impact we can have when we step out of our siloes and bring our expertise and commitment to patients and society together. I truly believe that this is key if we want to close the care gap. More than anything, I’m inspired by the determination that I see from the cancer care community to make life better for the millions of people around the world who are affected by cancer. It’s a determination I share. It’s a determination that I believe has the power to #CloseTheCareGap. #CloseTheCareGap #FutureofHealthcare #Partnership #Roche #WorldCancerDay Click [here] for more examples of #Roche partnership projects from across the world.

Today, on World Cancer Day, we stand in solidarity with millions around the globe in the fight against cancer. At Roche we recognize the importance of this day as a vital opportunity to reflect on our collective efforts and reconfirm our commitment to cancer care. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death. Yet, the disparity in access to cancer treatments remains one of the most significant challenges in our global health landscape. In many parts of the world, patients face numerous barriers to accessing the care they need - from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. This inequality not only affects survival rates but also the quality of life of patients and their families. We believe that no one should be left behind in the fight against cancer. Through collaboration with healthcare providers, governments, and NGOs, we are committed to closing the gap in cancer care. This video proves that all challenges can be overcome if there’s a willingness to find a solution. Together, we can make a difference no. Let's unite in the fight against cancer.#worldcancerday #closethecaregap #roche #rochealbania #healthcareequity #nooneleftbehind

Thanks for the share Elisabetta Vaudano. Bill Gates' points about data sharing are key. In regards to the fact that data from many clinical trials and longitudinal studies remains in silos he says this: "That’s a missed opportunity as well as a disservice to the people who agreed to join studies so they could help advance the field." What I have seen that the data we collected, structured and made available in one of the first IMI projects U-BIOPRED is that interoperable data and a high degree of interaction around the data has resulted in continued collaboration 10 years since the funding period of the project. A Google scholar search for "U-BIOPRED" returns 2.500 papers. What are some good examples of where IMI/IHI projects have achieved meaningful data sharing?
Very proud that we are part of this important collaborative effort via the EPND and AD-RIDDLE projects and very much looking forward to continuing the very productive collaboration with Gates Venture in IHI!

This year’s #WorldCancerDay is focused on taking meaningful action to #CloseTheCareGap and ensure everyone has access to the quality cancer care they need. Thank you @Joerg-Michael Rupp for shining a light on some of the ways #Roche and our partners are working towards this goal – on World Cancer Day and every day.? As advances in science and technology make new and better ways of diagnosis, treating and even curing cancer possible, one of the key challenges the oncology community faces is how we scale up these advances in care so they can benefit everyone who needs them. This is essential for closing the care gap and improving outcomes for the millions of people diagnosed with cancer each year in Europe and beyond.? This is why initiatives like OnkoAlliance Slovensko are so important. Slovakia has the second highest mortality rate from cancer in the EU (read more). OnkoAlliance Slovensko was co-founded by Roche to bring together patient organisations, experts and the biotech industry to take action to support the implementation of? Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan in Slovakia. The alliance has generated discussion about equal access to treatment and diagnosis and facilitated exchanges between EU-level experts and national policy- and decision-makers. Furthermore, OnkoAlliance is about to publish a study on the economic benefits of early disease intervention and is partnering with the local Health Ministry to pilot the usage of AI in optimising patient flows to shorten wait times on the patient journey. OnkoAlliance is just one inspirational example of the powerful impact shared ambition and collaboration can have. I urge others working on national cancer plans to join forces across borders and sectors to #CloseTheCareGap and create a world where everyone, everywhere has access to the best possible cancer care. Together, we can make a truly meaningful difference.? #CloseTheCareGap #CancerCare #Partnership #Innovation #ValueofInnovation?

This week, C-Path's Diane Stephenson, Executive Director of the Critical Path for Parkinson's Consortium, is at the International Congress of Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders. Diane presented a poster on behalf of CPP titled, "Advancing regulatory-endorsed drug development tools in alignment with emerging biology," highlighting key steps to accelerate Parkinson's drug development. Since its launch in 2015, CPP has brought together industry leaders, nonprofits, academic experts, regulatory advisors (FDA, European Medicines Agency, The National Institutes of Health), and people living with Parkinson's, working collaboratively to expedite new treatments for patients. Curious about how CPP is driving progress? Learn more here:?https://lnkd.in/gH7vqiW4 #Parkinsons #DrugDevelopment #MovementDisorders #DataSharing #Collaboration #CPath

Well worth a listen/watch. When the leader of a company such as #NovoNordisk speaks, you listen. Maybe you agree with some things, maybe you don't. I've been following Novo Nordisk's journey for about 12 years ever since I understood it stood on the verge of solving a serious health epidemic. For someone who took over in the midst of a down period in the company's history I'm sure there's some feeling of vindication (at least momentarily) in a hyper-competitive market. ??Be curious and trust your gut. You can still grow into the leadership role, and you don't have to be the specialist. As a leader use your ears and eyes to bring people and opinions together to solve problems. Give people a chance to succeed; they may even surprise you. ??There's no one size fits-all. Especially in healthcare. Build a portfolio of solutions for the end-user. This takes understanding what you do and why you do it. ??Change and a tangible TAM begets opportunities to make bold bets based on a long view. While it takes time to scale it shouldn't stop one from saying "that's where we ought to be because we'll bring value". ??Lastly, as humans with voracious appetites, there's no getting away from a "preference for snacking" ??Long live doughnuts?
