The $200 billion in COVID-19 relief funds allocated to education did little to improve educational outcomes. Simply throwing money at a problem without thoughtful implementation and strategic planning did not address the core issues of learning loss and achievement gaps. We must learn from this experience and focus on evidence-based, targeted interventions that directly support student learning. Sustainable and well-planned investments in education are essential for creating lasting improvements and truly supporting our students’ academic recovery and future success. https://lnkd.in/eSQDAGCf

Did you know that by age three, a child's brain is twice as active as an adults and 85% of the development is in place? That matters to businesses because without sufficient literacy skills we lose so much talent - 16% of America's high school graduates read below a 5th grade level. Shared reading is an excellent way to help build the basis of literacy. While a 3 year old may not verbalize their reaction, a person from outside their classroom, taking time to read to them is exciting! Excitement leads to curiosity and imagination - meanwhile those very active brains make connections about the importance of reading.
