2024 marked the fifth year for Pathom as an independent venture consulting firm. Results for the year included in person, boots on the ground, work in eight US states as well as six various countries on four continents.?Add in virtual coaching and training sessions and the number jumped to fifteen countries.? While many know Pathom from the agriculture and manufacturing worlds, we know diversity is key to growth and sustainability.?Pathom added startups, energy companies, gold hauling equipment, and even a ski operation to our client base. That being said, we always enjoyed our visits to poultry, swine, beef, and dairy farms, as well as manufacturing facilities.? We continued to test and expand Pathom’s Value Discovery Methodology.?1,300+ projects and counting! We would like to thank our clients (most of whom have NDAs) for their challenging issues that push us to continually refine our process in order to bring them success.?At Pathom, we love the work we do and look forward to 2025 and whatever pain points our clients will bring forward. Closing the books on 2024 and cracking open a new 2025 volume! #valuediscovery #pathominc

The path to exit for AgriTech companies is usually an M&A transaction by one of the large Agribusiness corporates. Over the years we have seen acquisition transactions of $300 Million + leading to 10x returns for investors, creating a programatic playbook for startups and VCs to follow. My recent observations are that these corporates are done with the pitches and corporate innovation, as demands to deliver shareholder value shifts their focus to more traditional drivers of M&A. Following some discussions with my collaborators at the AgTech Advisory Collective, I decided to detail my observations and usual contrarian perspectives in this article. Enjoy ?? Michael Macolino from our AgTech Advisory Collective has shared an insightful article on the role of venture capital in AgTech and the realities of M&A. He highlights several key points: ?? The inherent challenges of operating in a 'tight margin' industry and the importance of startups being mindful of this reality. ?? The critical need for capital efficiency in building sustainable businesses. ?? How genuine value creation, rather than inflated narratives, is the foundation of long-term success. And much more. I highly recommend reading his piece—it’s packed with valuable perspectives. #AgTech #AgriTech #VC #Exit
