You hear us talk and you read our writing about public works first responders. But it's more than talking and writing. Public works pros who are first responders believe it and live it. In New Hampshire, they've built a public works memorial for those who have died doing their work. (https://lnkd.in/eGu4UixH) Our advocacy for public works first responders continues in our new public policy priorities for the 119th Congress. As GAC member Kürt D. Blomquist, LtCol USAFR (Ret.) explains, the passion to have greater recognition for the distinction matches the passion that lead to New Hampshire's public works memorial. Our #EmergencyManagement PPP is here: https://lnkd.in/eWuiffCC

In many ways, the biggest gaps for our work have been a general lack of education around the lack of support for military families, and the lawmakers who are unaware of the issue. In 2025, we're ready to make big waves in advocacy for military families. For education, for awareness, and for policy change.??? ???https://lnkd.in/esyn42Ei #militaryfamilybuildingcoalition?#infertilitysupport?#militaryfamily?#militaryspouse?#militaryfamilylife?#militaryfamilysupport?#familybuilding?#familyplanningjourney?#militaryinfertility

We learn and grow through building self-awareness, in behavioural competence and emotional intelligence, by understanding and comprehending that hate, racism, exclusion, and ableism, drag everyone down in a race to the bottom. There are innumerable negative consequences when we lack compassion for ourselves and Others. We reach our collaborative and infinite human potential by realizing that we are all worthy, dignified, awesome, integral, wonderful, intelligent, effortful, and capable Human Beings. Apologize when you have wronged another Person: Aim at taking absolute personal and professional responsibility for your own goodness of being human and we will attain the available betters in creating a completely caring, loving, equal, and respectfully good society. We rise by lifting and supporting Others.

Today, I was deeply moved by the courage displayed by those who testified at the hearing for the proposed class action lawsuit tackling racism in the Canadian Forces. This lawsuit aims to address and combat the racism that many members have faced within the Forces. As someone who has experienced racism in uniform, hearing your testimonies made me feel less alone. Your bravery in sharing your stories is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable environment for all of us. I hope that by speaking out, you find some measure of healing. For those who want to learn more about this important issue and the class action lawsuit, please visit Forces Action. (https://forcesaction.com/) Thank you to everyone who had the courage to share their experiences. Your voices are making a difference. #canadianforces

Today, on Bill of Rights Day, I reflect on the profound responsibility and privilege of defending the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. As a decorated and disabled US Army combat #veteran and pastor, I’ve seen firsthand how these first ten amendments—the Bill of Rights—form the bedrock of our democracy, guaranteeing freedoms that many around the world only dream of. From the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches to the First Amendment’s promise of free speech and religious liberty, these rights are not just legal safeguards; they are principles worth fighting for. For me, the Bill of Rights is a sacred covenant, affirming the dignity of every individual and the value of justice. My service in the #military and my #ministry are both rooted in a commitment to these ideals: to protect the vulnerable, uphold the truth, and seek unity in a world too often divided. I invite you to join me today in reflecting on these freedoms. What does the Bill of Rights mean to you? How do you see its promises fulfilled—or challenged—in your daily life? I'm honoring the sacrifices of those who came before me by recommitting myself to protecting the rights of all. #BillOfRightsDay #Veterans #Freedom #Justice #Unity

Outstanding leadership in Virginia elevating one of the most important issues for veterans who have become entangled with the very sticky justice system. Identifying veterans (JLC 2025-01) at the earliest instance can help deflect or divert the veteran from a life of continual court hearings to treatment and accountability for their actions. The Veterans Justice Commission at the Council on Criminal Justice made this their first recommendation two years ago. Read more here to learn about the struggles with identification and the proper way to define Justice involved veterans in order to stop them from falling through the cracks. https://lnkd.in/gYpB2gaz Elizabeth McCoy Danny Murphy Lindsey Kirchhoff

Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk JLC 2025-05 Women Veterans Day *Establish June 12th as Women Veterans Day in Virginia to honor the significant contributions and sacrifices of women veterans For more details, please follow the link below (scroll to JLC 2025 Initiatives).?
