It should be easier to understand what’s happening, so why does keeping up with the news feel like work? Here are some of the ways Particle helps improve this experience. Stories. News isn’t one-dimensional, and neither is Particle. Particle organizes all the coverage so you can see the full picture of every story. Understand more, faster. Each story comes with clear summaries, so you can catch up quickly. Select a summary style to see it in a different way: Need it simpler? Try "Explain Like I'm 5." On the go? Listen to your personalized feed of top news. Looking for different viewpoints? Choose "Opposite Sides." Ask Questions. We’re often scouring the news, looking for answers. With Particle, you can get an instant answer to any question about the story. And because you can see other people’s questions, sometimes the answer you’re looking for is already there. Control your algorithm. We enable powerful and transparent control over which stories you see, and which you don’t. On Particle, you can tune your interests to the topics that matter the most to you. Your news feed will adapt to your interests, bringing you the most relevant stories without the noise. You can now download Particle via the App Store: https://bit.ly/4hLEtaA.

I once fancied myself the Robin Hood of the 21st century—minus the stealing, the outlaw status, and definitely no hood. But forget that analogy; it’s irrelevant. What matters is Medium's Next Generation Stats. After months of frustration with Medium’s lacking stats page, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I mean, who needs support when you can build what you need, right? For context, Medium Stats shows you daily views of your articles but doesn’t tell you which articles those views belong to. Want data beyond 30 days? Tough luck. I couldn’t be the only one frustrated by this lack of info. In fact, many others have voiced their complaints. Medium gives you an API to fetch this data, but it’s a hassle to gain access. After countless ignored emails to Medium, I was done waiting for a solution. I explored various solutions, including browser extensions that enhanced Medium’s stats page. But none gave me the complete picture I wanted. That’s when it hit me: if extensions can modify the page, why not create one that provides all the data and charts I need? Voilà. Now, thanks to my new extension, you can get meaningful insights from your Medium data, with more charts and larger ranges. It’s available on the Chrome and Firefox web stores, and the full code is open-source. Feel free to request any features you think are missing—this project has become addictive, and I’m always adding new improvements!

How do we fight misinformation? With better information. Start using X.com as source of information - it might hurt your feelings reading something outrageous, but you can always adjust the algorithm (which is the only open source algo for social media out there, including community notes). I'll recommend three initial people to follow (related to misinformation, status and big tech bias) 1. https://x.com/GadSaad Book: The Parasitic Mind: How Infectious Ideas Are Killing Common Sense. 2. https://x.com/wstorr Book: The Status Game: How Social Position Governs Everything 3. https://x.com/DrREpstein WWW: Data against political bias of big tech.
