The growth of autonomous flight co-existing with general aviation continues. DronePort Network just launched its groundbreaking?Community Airspace Awareness Project?(CAAP)?at Ardmore Development Authority Industrial Airpark and MidAmerica Industrial Park in Oklahoma With the rise of drones and autonomous aircraft, airspace conflicts at low altitudes are becoming an increasing concern. CAAP provides a cost-effective solution, offering real-time airspace monitoring and safety enhancements for local airports and communities. At the core of CAAP is Vigilant Aerospace’s FlightHorizon product, a cutting-edge system for airspace management, enabling efficient, real-time monitoring, immediate traffic alerting and detailed long-term traffic reporting. “Our mission with CAAP is to empower local communities by giving them the tools to understand and manage their airspace,” said Craig Mahaney, CEO of DronePort Network. “As aviation technology evolves, it’s critical for localities to stay ahead and informed, and CAAP provides a scalable, low-cost, introductory solution to meet that challenge with the flexibility to scale for the future.” #AirspaceManagement #UTM #uas #droneports #FlightHorizon https://lnkd.in/gU6FpkhU

Vigilant Aerospace Systems provides airspace management and flight safety systems for both manned & unmanned aircraft
关于我们
Vigilant Aerospace is the leading developer of detect-and-avoid and airspace management software for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS or drones). The company’s product, FlightHorizon, is based on two NASA patents and uses data from multiple sources to display a real-time picture of the air traffic around a UAS and to provide automatic avoidance maneuvers to prevent collisions. The software is designed to meet industry technical standards, to provide automatic safety and to allow UAS to safely fly beyond the sight of the pilot. The software has won multiple industry awards and the company has had contracts and users at NASA, the FAA, the U.S. Department of Defense and with a variety of drone development programs. Visit our website at www.VigilantAerospace.com FlightHorizon is based on an exclusively licensed NASA patent and prototype which has been extensively tested and which provides a unique autonomous “detect-and-avoid” function. FlightHorizon uses data from standard aviation transponders and radar to allow unmanned aircraft to autonomously self-separate from other aircraft and avoid mid-air collisions. The software provides unmanned aircraft pilots with a 2D map-based view and 3D synthetic cockpit view of the airspace and full sensor fusion across aviation transponders, radars and online data feeds. The system is designed to help operators maintain flight safety, achieve beyond visual line-of-sight flight authorizations and comply with FAA Part 107.205 waiver requirements. Vigilant Aerospace also provides integration and development consulting in addition to testing, training and compliance services for unmanned aircraft flight operation departments and fleet managers. Vigilant Aerospace Systems is a member of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and is partnered with the FAA Alliance for System Safety of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) through Research Excellence (ASSURE) and NASA Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM).

With continued interest in co-existing autonomous and general aviation operations, particularly in regional airports and droneports, this interview with Kraettli Lawrence Epperson and eVTOL Insights editor Jason Pritchard is helpful. It discusses the role of droneports in helping large-scale autonomous flight operation scale safely and effectively. “Kraettli talks about the technical, regulatory and operational considerations, before sharing more about Vigilant’s recent projects with the @Skyway36 droneport in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the @US Air Force Research Laboratory. And finally, he gives us a broad overview of the current state of uncrewed aircraft technology.” #AutonomousSystems #uam #utm #AAM #advancedairmobility Listen to the podcast here: https://lnkd.in/g_Mg7US3

Calling all drone pilots... and anyone interested in becoming one, or just interested in learning more about the UAS industry. Come out to Skyway36 on October 11th from 4-6pm for our first drone fly-in event. This event is open to the public. Drone pilots must have a current P107 certificate or TRUST certificate in order to fly. Please DM us if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!
Celebrating the fall weather, it's GORGEOUS out there! Come fly with us at Skyway36 on October 11, 4 - 6pm. This event is open to the public and all drone pilots are welcome to fly (Part 107 or TRUST certification required). Light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.

Thank you University of Oklahoma's Aerospace & Defense Innovation Institute (OADII) for the invitation to your new research consortium kickoff event with Director General Robin Rand and keynote speaker Congressman Tom Cole, recently elected to chair the House Appropriations Committee. It’s great to see the state's aerospace and defense industries coming together and receiving support from the state's public institutions as we strive to help Oklahoma achieve its potential as a national aerospace technology powerhouse. Rep. Cole's comments on the current situation in Ukraine and the Middle East were especially apropos for the evening. Enjoyed the conversations and looking forward to seeing what this consortium can accomplish.

Excited to get CAAP rolled out! This is a project that is near and dear to me personally having first hand knowledge surrounding the traffic complexities of general aviation airports, both towered and non-towered. I have experienced the challenges as both an air traffic controller and pilot. Helping communities understand the full “picture” of current traffic volumes/flows, as well as cooperative UAS traffic already operating around thier community GA airports, will be a huge piece of integrating scaled UAS operations. Our vision of CAAP is to provide this initial community airspace awareness at an incrediably low cost to help accelerate community acceptance and support good policy making at the local level for the coming commercial UAS economy. Looking forward to this critical work first at our “beta” sites MidAmerica Industrial Park and Ardmore Industrial Airpark in partnership with Ardmore Development Authority. Also special shout out to Kraettli Lawrence Epperson and the Vigilant Aerospace Systems, Inc. team for their hard work on this project! DronePort Network https://lnkd.in/gCVpMB4s

Kind words from North Dakota UAS Council on our recent CAAP project with DronePort Network More details here: https://lnkd.in/gU6FpkhU
The North Dakota UAS Council celebrates the innovative strides made by DronePort Network and? Council member Vigilant Aerospace Systems, Inc. with the launch of the Community Airspace Awareness Project (CAAP) at the Ardmore Industrial Airpark and MidAmerica Industrial Park. This groundbreaking initiative is a significant step forward in enhancing airspace awareness, helping local communities understand drone operations at low altitudes. Key technologies, such as Vigilant Aerospace's FlightHorizon system, are at the heart of CAAP, offering real-time airspace monitoring and traffic alerts that enhance safety at both controlled and uncontrolled airports. With leaders like Craig Mahaney at DronePort Network and partners like Osage, LLC at Skyway36, this project lays the foundation for proactive airspace management and paves the way for future aviation technology integration. The North Dakota UAS industry recognizes the importance of such innovations for safe, scalable drone operations—mirroring our own efforts here at home. As the industry continues to expand, projects like CAAP provide a model for communities everywhere to better prepare for the future of autonomous flight. We look forward to seeing how this initiative will shape airspace safety and awareness across the U.S. and are proud to collaborate with industry leaders pushing these efforts forward.
