Why companies saving lives should have reputational falls? A reason to consider is the generation transition. An interesting observation came from an HCP I met which his daughter is a newly certified HCP – his observation is that the industry reputation is generation-driven (yes, that theory with x,y and z). According to him, he sees a shift in the HCP community’s perception, as it gets more y and z generation HCPs, driven by greater focus on ethics & sustainability (vs. cure & economics). ?The same goes from the patients, which look on the greater role of the Pharma’s in society, beyond curing, so ultimately this will play a greater role in product commercialization.

As they receive more outside investments, industry giants are forced to further strengthen their pipelines through strategic M+As, ensuring long-term sustainability. With increased competition, efficient resource management and cost-saving measures will indicate a company's success.
