It’s here! FIA’24 has begun, though it doesn’t seem that long ago since we were last here, sweltering in a heatwave. The Innovate UK Aerospace team are excited to be here alongside our colleagues from across UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Future Flight Challenge. We are also pleased to be joined by Claire Spooner Director for Mobility on Tuesday and Wednesday. Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is the UK’s innovation agency. Our mission is to help companies to grow through their development and commercialisation of new products, processes and services, supported by an outstanding innovation ecosystem that is agile, inclusive and easy to navigate. Even though the end of the year is?around the corner, 2Zero?was?still very busy?this week,?with a dense agenda on the 4th?December. 2Zero joined the ERTRAC - European Road Transport Research Advisory Council Plenary in the morning, discussing the next Framework Programme?(FP10), the ERTRAC Vision and its systemic research needs. In the afternoon, 2Zero took part in the annual European Partnership Stakeholder Forum 2024 (ERA-LEARN).?The forum not only celebrated?the 20-year achievements of European Partnerships?but also set the stage for?addressing important challenges and strategic discussions on the way?towards FP10.?We had the pleasure to attend the first public appearance of the?new Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation,?Ekaterina Zaharieva?, who expressed her support for the European partnerships. She?acknowledged the need to strengthen the research eco-system further and boost the efforts to reach the long-term target of 3% GDP. She also made a pledge to reinforce access to capital to support innovation funding and develop a more inclusive R&I Union.? She made a very clear call for simplification, an ambition fully shared by the 2Zero partnership.? Our Director, Lucie Beaumel, and her CCAM colleague, Marzena Jougounoux,?joined?the Cluster 5 session,?where?they had?the opportunity to share their partnerships' perspectives, return of experiences, and recommendations for the future.
