How the World Got Paid Humans have been exchanging goods and services since the dawn of civilization. Innovation has been the driving force of payment solutions ever since-from stringing beads and shells to necklaces all the way through to digital currency and beyond. In this series of posts, we’ll take you on a time travel adventure to see how the world gets paid. ???????? ??: ???????? ???????????????? -????????-?????? ??.??. Two civilizations on opposite sides of the ancient world have a claim to fame in using metal as a form of payment. In 1000 B.C. China, imitations of cowrie shells were produced in bronze or copper, with coins later taking the shape of tools like knives and spades. In 700 B.C. Lydia, modern day Turkey, coins were made of electrum- a silver and gold alloy. These coins were the first to be officially issued by a government body. Unlike modern day coins, the Lydian staters didn’t bear the bust of King Croseus, and were crude and bean-shaped, stamped with a mark of their quality and weight. Croseus used the minted coin to pay his soldiers. To learn more about global payments, go to our PaymentsPedia>> https://okt.to/kR1o4Z #crossborderpayments #workforcepayments #historyofpayments

In this series of posts, we’ll take you on a time travel adventure to see how the world gets paid. ???????? ??: ?????????????? ?????? ???????????????? In 1661, Stockholm Banco in Sweden became the first central bank to issues banknotes. It was a flop which led to the bank’s, well, bankruptcy. In 1695, the Bank of England began to issue banknotes, which were at first handwritten to an exact amount, similar to 20th century cheques. The Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) involved most major powers in Europe and caused an acute shortage of gold. The Bank of England managed the crisis by issuing 10-pound notes, and 5-, 2-, and single-pound notes were introduced by the 1790s. In the early 1800, gold had become the standard of value. Each banknote represented a certain amount of gold, so only a limited number of notes could be printed. The Indonesian Cash Management Association provides the first presentation at the ACMA Cash Summit 2024, providing an overview of the Indonesian economy and cash landscape. Interesting fact, around 40% of Indonesians are #unbanked but overall economic growth is one of the highest in the world. This demonstrates the need for inclusive #payments, of which #cash is an essential element.

Wondering which currency is best for paying global contractors or remote employees? For us at Arbonum, this has never been a one-size-fits-all scenario. Here's a breakdown of your options and their implications. Option 1: ?? You can use the local currency of the contractor: With this: it's convenient for the contractor. Exchange rate fluctuations may impact your costs and affect the contractor's payment Option 2:?? You can use your company’s official currency: This makes it simple to organize the budget and accounting for your firm. Sometimes, it could be be less convenient for contractors who don't use this currency. Option 3:?? You can all agree to opt for a major international currency. This is like a middle ground for both parties. It also means that exchange rate fluctuations affect both sides. If you want to choose well, make sure the goal is to balance convenience and cost efficiency #InternationalPayments #Exchangerates #Currency

Over the last couple of weeks I have been comparing banks in Australia, Indonesia and The Philippines. My conclusion: - Australian banks are not very impressive money printing machines, as the combination of dividend yield and residual earnings growth (after dividends are paid out) is below 10% and even below 5% for the largest bank (CBA). - All Australian banks are significantly overvalued, so even 10% total growth may well be cancelled out by significant 'speculative' share price drops as soon as Australian investors start paying realistic prices for bank shares again. - Many Indonesian banks are fantastic money printing machines with close to 15% as a combined total for dividend yield and residual earnings growth. - The big 4 Indonesian banks are getting overvalued (BMRI, BBNI and BBRI) or very overvalued (BBCA), but mid size banks like BJBR and BJTM pay 8-10%/yr in dividends and on top of that we could still see a significant 'speculative' share price rises as well. - For many Filipino banks the total of dividend yield and residual earnings growth is a little lower at close to 10%/yr, but even the biggest 2 banks (BDO are BPI) are still fairly valued. To me mid size banks like CHIB and MBT are very good value. Disclaimer: I am not officially qualified/allowed to give financial advise, so before buying anything, always make sure you do your own research!
