Thanks so much to Streetlamp Creative for sponsoring this month’s chapter meeting, and to Liz Loreti for speaking to us about women in philanthropy. Here are a few takeaways: ? In 90% of high net-worth households, women are either the primary decision maker or an equal partner in philanthropic giving. Development teams should implement strategies that account for the potential of female funders. ? To address the underrepresentation of women in senior leadership positions at nonprofits, organizations should focus on providing mentorship, disrupting male-centric norms, and pushing for women to be promoted at the same rates as men. ? Women are often motivated by a desire to improve their communities. They tend to give more frequently and are more likely to make long-term charitable commitments. They also frequently include their children in philanthropic decision making, creating a sustainable pipeline of support. To stay on top of trends relevant to nonprofits and fundraisers, don’t miss our monthly chapter meetings. Learn more by visiting: https://bit.ly/49bCE0U

Many nonprofits are focused on improving the lives of women, children, and other underserved groups. For me, this highlights the critical need for women to be present at the decision-making table. Equally, having a board that includes individuals from the communities the organization serves can be a powerful force for change. I work with nonprofits of all shapes and sizes, and I truly believe we should concentrate on fostering collaboration and inclusivity to drive real progress. What are some practical ways we can elevate more women into executive roles in nonprofits while encouraging men to engage in the issues affecting their communities? #nonprofit #genderequality #boarddevelopment

"Take full advantage of every opportunity, build strong connections, and lean on your peers for support." These powerful words resonate with the mission of 318 Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the opportunity gap for Black girls and historically marginalized communities. Through our programs—318 VISION, 318 ACTION, and 318 SPORTS—we empower these young women by providing them with the tools and networks they need to succeed. We focus on creating spaces where they can express themselves, foster creativity, and build meaningful relationships that support their development and personal growth. At 318 Foundation, we believe that true empowerment comes from providing access to resources and opportunities and cultivating a supportive community. The relationships formed during our programs are critical to this mission, offering these girls a network they can rely on as they navigate their unique challenges. Our tailored approach ensures that each participant receives the mentorship and guidance they need to achieve their full potential. Our programs go beyond traditional mentorship by offering immersive experiences that prepare these young women for leadership roles in their communities and industries. The connections they make here—whether with mentors or peers—are foundational to their development and success. We are committed to helping people develop the confidence and resilience they need to overcome obstacles and reach their goals. Believe in mentorship and closing the opportunity gap?
